I am going to admit something embarrassing in that my fiance is so obsessed with this case we rarely watch anything other than Jodi Arias trial and we watched Dr. Drew tonight. Apparently this expert psychological witness advertises on his website "I will win a case for you" so he is a career expert witness and apparently advertises the fact that he will win cases for you (as long as you pay him). Additionally, Dr. Drew had on some other psychologists, including himself, that say within the profession there are extensive tests you can give to someone where they have to answer a lot of questions so you can begin to diagnose them and this dude who was on the stand today did the ghetto version of that. Apparently these tests are usually 100s of questions long and the one he did on Jodi was 30 questions. This led them all into a tirade about the validity of his findings and questioning whether or not they could have found an expert witness who would be a bit more thorough. My personal reaction to the guy on the stand today was that he looked like a clown and not very professional and why in the world couldn't they have found someone better than this considering these people get paid a lot of money to testify. Would a dude with a haircut that didn't make him look like Bozo be too much to ask? Also all of his references were about police officers and veteran soldiers with PTSD which I think is slightly offensive comparing Jodi Arias to and I wonder if the jury is going to react the same way.Cross-examination should be a hoot tomorrow. I originally wasn't a huge Juan Martinez fan, but after his final cross-examination of Jodi after the jury questions, I felt that guy knows what he is doing. So help me out here. Ok so we know about how she could have memory loss with the psych sitting on the stand for 3 hours. He's giving generals. No one, including him, can say if this pertains to Jodi or not.Isn't there enough logical and some conclusive evidence that already shows pre-meditation? I thought the prosecutor did a great job showing pre-med?I assume the prosecutor will be crossing examining these dudes and will have his own witnesses to present??This chic is sharp as a tack. These psych tests she took really isn't hard to figure out how to answer the questions in order to get the dx. Also this psych saw her in 2009, several months after the murder. She had a year to study up on PTSD and memory loss..
Yeah, I did hear he gave an abbreviated version of the test which is so ridiculous and made me lol. No one gives a dx with an abbreviated version of a test. In fact, good psychs administer multiple tests and the long version at that. Like I said, the real power in these tests is that they are painfully long and tedious, focusing becomes hard to do after awhile especially if you are trying to focus on a dx. And what gets me is he's only seen her 12 times in 3 years??? WTF? I didn't catch if it was once every 3 months or what the frequency was. That's hardly time in getting to know someone especially as complex and a lying manipulator as Jodi. If he was really concerned about doing a thorough job in dx'ing he could have easily visited her in jail. It's not like there wasn't enough time. He hasn't been in the clinical field for several years and it shows. He is a sad desperate attempt for the defense to take M1 off the table.Oh and guess what, basically any stress can cause memory problems. Depression and anxiety can cause memory problems. We can all use this excuse. Heck at work it's very stressful for most folks and many people feel they are in a fog or don't remember everything during such a high anxiety time. That's natural. But to have such selective memory where what benefits her, she's sharp as a tack/above average memory, but if it doesn't---- the fog rolls in!
He makes a good professor in the classroom as he explained things pretty good for the lay person to understand, but if I were on the jury, I'd just be paying attention just because the info is interesting since by now I would have already decided my verdict, which is guilty of M1. I was so disgusted by this clown they produced to review the DSM IV that I couldn't watch the whole 3 loooooooooooong hours of his babbling. I mean seriously, I remember in my day it was the DSM III and I was in a panic because I was diagnosing myself with this and that. It wasn't hard to feel that I really had something because in a way it's vague and it's not hard to come up with a dx on yourself. For example, you need to feel non stop depression for at least 6 months straight if you're looking at the clinical depression dx, and for it not to be attributed to anything tangible or a situation like a death or divorce, etc. If you're feeling hopeless and have for awhile, you could think and say it's been going on for years for no reason and bingo, a key criteria is achieved. There are so many people that are misdiagnosed in the mental health field because it's not like physical illness where it's relatively black and white with the majority of illnesses. There are objective tests which will tell you without much doubt if you have something. In the mental health care field, it relies mainly on what comes out of your mouth. And who gives a crap about her memory at this point?? Why is it the fog lifts when it benefits her or the bits and pieces help create her story when the whole ordeal in the supposed 62 seconds was very traumatic? I too cannot wait until Juan shreds him on the stand.
I just hope the jurors get it by now..I love Dr. Drew and his panel and especially his jurors who sit in the courtroom hearing this stuff. Nancy Grace can grind your nerves even if you agree with her but her Friday analyzing the week show is pretty good. Too bad she can't team up with Juan on closing arguments for I highly doubt any juror would be able to decide anything but M1.
