Joey Harrington close (1 Viewer)

Culpepper and Harrington on the Dolphins in 2006?! How many people would have predicted that scenario even 2-3 months ago?!

I used to think Saban knew what he was doing.

Either Culpepper or Harrington probably would have been a good acquisition. Both? :loco:

I really thought KC would be the best place for Joey. Wonder if the price was just too gih for them?

Getting a QB with 3 years starting experience for a 2nd day pick while your franchise Qb recovers from a horrific knee injury is a bad move?I dislike Harrington as much as anyone, but thats a great move. If Pepper isnt ready, their isnt a better option.

Just herd a rumor on the radio and

ESPN news has it on the crawl.
USAToday says he wanted 1 yr 3 mil from Cincy and this under the Fins:Detroit quarterback Joey Harrington had a visit last week with the Dolphins, but it doesn't appear Miami is the frontrunner to acquire him via trade from the Lions. Harrington left to Cincinnati after meeting with the Dolphins and could soon have more visits awaiting as Detroit tries to deal the disgruntled four-year veteran.

I also read the Jets have inquired about what type of compensation they're looking for but have not chatted with Joey or his agent.

the dolphins are giving joey what he is looking for in a contract. 2 years at a little over 2 million per. the fins big issue is the draft picks to detriot here. Miami may have to give up a seventh and a pick in 2007 to get him.

While I like what saban is doing, the fact that we have so little draft picks this year bothers me.

The picks seem to be the sticking point. Not only do we not have many picks this year but I'm sure we're trying to get him for as cheap as possible from Det. I haven't heard one way or the other as to whether CPep will be starting the first game or not and I wouldn't complain about Harrington as a starter for the begining of the season.

This bothers me too Gatorman.

I wonder why the Dolphins even bother having a college scouting department.
Um . . . . Ronnie Brown, Channing Crowder, Matt Roth, Manny Wright ?Giving up a 7th round pick for Joey Harrington as a backup QB. What is not to like?

This year, not sure. With a guy just out of college, I am shuked as to the preference for vets over youth.

How long before Dolphin fans are calling for Cleo Lemon?
I hope he at least gets a chance to show what he can do with the first unit in practice or somesuch this summer. He looked good in preseason last year with the Chargers. Almost feel bad for him being such an afterthought for the team.

IMO, Harrington would be good fit in Dallas, where Bledsoe-old is just about out of gas. Good O-Line + Good running game + Good TE = Good formula for a strong arm QB lacking toughness to hang in the pocket.

I dont know what you fins fans are crying about a 6th or 7th round pick for a backup QB with experience is a steal.

Joey didnt have the best situation in Detroit and I think it would be a great pickup for the fins or whomever. I personally would like to see him in Cinci If he has protection he can make the plays.

As a Redskins fan I'd love to see Harrington in Dallas.

I don't think any of us would mind giving up a 6th or 7th for him. What I was hearing were reports of Detriot seeing all this interest in him and suddenly deciding they can get more and asking for a 3rd or 4th for him.

:goodposting: Love hearing all the Minnesota & Detroit fans bashing CPepp and Harrington.

Those 2 QB's will now have a decent Oline, a very good running game and a respectable defense. Something they NEVER had in either Minn or Det.

I agree entirely, which is why I want the Chiefs to go after Harrington if this is the asking price.

I hear ya.Did Lion fans actually think Harrington could single handily carry the entire team to the playoffs without an Oline, running game or defense? Same question can be asked of Viking fans?

No, but we (fans on the whole) tend to overemphasize "skill positions" and ask why Joey couldn't hit Roy, Rogers, BMW and use Kevin Jones better. The one thing that concerns me about Joey is an apparent lack of leadership ability. He won't motivate a team to be better than they are like Brady or Vince Young, he won't rally the troops etc. or rather, hasn't shown that yet. Might just be a question of confidence, time should tell.

IMO, Harrington can and should be succesful with a good line and running game, but without those, he's sunk.

he's also unlikely to have another coach in his career that completely ignores him in practice and refuses to talk to him outside of it. Can't imagine that helped much with his cahce with the rest of the team.

Okay had to pipe back in here. Why couldnt Joey hit Roy, Rogers, BMW, KJ. I saw quite a few of the games and watched the routes they were running. They flat out sucked. Also when you know an OLine is weak you tend to stack the line and go after the QB. I would say almost every play was rushed and the routes these receivers were running collapsed fast. I mean even Garcia couldnt hit anyone when he was in there and how long has he been in the league, let alone played for Mooch before as well. If it truly was Harrington and not the crap routes then Garcia should have flourished.Don't pull out the Garcia was hurt card either, even when he was healthy he looked :toilet: As far as leadership goes. I dont by that either. Tell me who on the Lions helped mentor Harrington let alone stand with him. Everyone threw everything bad on his back and he took it. Then Mooch goes and Bly throws him under the bus as well. Nice leadership there. You cant throw Vince Young out there as a leader yet. Brady inheritted a good team from Bledsoe. He had other leaders on his roster as well that stood with him. Joey had diddly and how do you expect to lead as a rookie or 2nd year player with no one on your side.Joey was as much of a leader at Oregon as VY was at Texas. The problem is when you move to the NFL and there are people getting paid a crap ton of money then egos come out. Hell 90% of the lions are just there to collect a paycheck.Players like Brady, Rothlesburger, etc all had mentors prior to their arrival. Without those types of people supporting their QB then they are doomed. I see the same thing with Alex Smith, where are the Vets on that team.Harrington to Miami, Cinci, or KC would be a great fit for him to get back to slinging the rock. I also thought KC would be the perfect fit but they havent even shown any interest.Okay, i've rambled enough lol

without confidence, every QB is useless.

Miami or Cincy will need to find a way to instill that.

I agree, and I'm a Lions fan. I hold no ill-will towards Joey, and wish him well. Perhaps he CAN make it elsewhere. Detroit has horrible management, and the personnel the last.........millenia, has been atrocious, so it's not all his fault.
