(Rotoworld) DE John Abraham (groin) is expected to play Monday night against the Saints.

Impact: "Abraham's already chomping at the bit to get in on Monday night," DeAngelo Hall said. "He's saying that he's going to be there. That's definitely going to be a game changer."

Abe needs to practice tomorrow or we will all have to adjust our line-ups accordingly

Thanks for the updates. It's not looking good though. Hopefully the extra day will help a little. I really need Abraham this week or I'll be short a starter after losing E. James for the year.

no-go for abraham

Sep 25 The Atlanta Falcons have declared SS Cam Newton, QB D.J. Shockley, TE Daniel Fells, LB Edgerton Hartwell, OT Frank Omiyale, DL John Abraham, LB Jordan Beck, OG Tyson Clabo inactive for Week 3.

So its a new week, here we go again

(Rotoworld) Coach Jim Mora said Tuesday that DE John Abraham (groin) is looking good and is close to returning.Impact: Abraham may practice this week, which means he could be ready to play without the added time off from the Falcons' upcoming bye.

(KFFL) Steve Wyche, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons DL John Abraham (groin) was excused from practice Wednesday, Sept. 27 to attend a funeral. He is expected to return to the team Thursday, Sept. 28.

(KFFL) Steve Wyche, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons DL John Abraham (groin) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 4. Abraham has yet to practice since being injured at the end of the team's game in Week 1.

Don't forget...the Falcons have a Week 5 bye. I would think they have little incentive to play Abraham this week against a non-conference opponent (AZ).

Falcons DE Abraham Out Until October 15?

Steve Wyche, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - [Full Article]

Atlanta Falcons defensive end John Abraham missed practice again on Friday, and there is speculation that he will not return to field until October 15. Defensive end Chauncey Davis is expected to start in place of Abraham in Week 4.

(Rotoworld) Falcons DE John Abraham returned to practice Wednesday.

Impact: Abraham told the Atlanta media that "I'm still a little stiff. I'm still a little behind but I think I'll be OK if I just stay here and work out and get back into the old John Abraham shape." It looks like he'll be ready when Atlanta returns from a Week 5 bye.

Until the next injury. Sorry, but as a Jets fan, this guy burned us way too many times... I would not have him on my FF teams. He's brittle and pretty soft for an NFL'er. When he DOES play, he can dominate.... but he just doesn't play enough for my liking.

Does this mean that he plays for one half and then gets injured as is out for another four weeks??

What makes him worthwhile, FF and NFL, is that when healthy the guy is a one man wrecking crew. I can understand why Jets fans tend to be a little bitter and he does miss a little too many games, but I guess game changing ability makes it all worth it.

In a dynasty, he's a great guy to have. When playing, great producer, but you can find someone average to fill in as needed. Right now, he's played in 1 game. he's the #100 DL in my league where you start a full 11 man D on year-to-date points, but he's #1 in average. If I plug in a typical WW guy for those 3 weeks, he missed, plus the bye, I have a top 20 DL. And it should only go up from here.

FYI. Early reports have Abraham listed as Questionable once again this week.

NEW YORK GIANTS AT ATLANTA FALCONS - Giants: OUT: RB Derrick Ward (Foot). DOUBTFUL: LB Carlos Emmons (Pectoral); WR Sinorice Moss (Quadricep). QUESTIONABLE: S James Butler (Knee). PROBABLE: TE Jeremy Shockey (Foot). Falcons: QUESTIONABLE: RB Jerious Norwood (Shoulder); CB Allen Rossum (Hamstring); CB Omare Lowe (Hamstring); DE John Abraham (Groin); G Kynan Forney (Shoulder); LB Edgerton Hartwell (Knee); T Wayne Gandy (Shoulder).

If you believe Jim Mora, Abraham looks to be ready to roll this weekend.

atlantafalcons.com (Mora Wednesday presser)

Q: How has Abraham looked?

Mora: Today was his first day in pads. He practiced a couple of days last week and then Monday and we were in the soft gear. Today was his first day in pads and I thought he looked fine. I thought his spirits were up. If you've watched him practice, as you guys all have, he kind of jumps around, he has fun and goes and congratulates guys when they make plays. When a guy is hurting, you don't see that. They kind of go into their own little world. John was his old self today, so I'm taking that as a real positive sign.

Post practice quotes from Abraham.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution

"It's 80 to 90 percent that I'll probably play because I feel like I can contribute to my team," said Abraham, who had six tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles in his lone appearance at Carolina in the season-opener. "If I can't contribute, I'm not going to play, but right now I'm feeling positive about the situation.

"If we were 1-3 right now it would be more pressure for me to get back on the field. We're playing well, so there is not as much pressure."

Coach Jim Mora said he is encouraged by Abraham's progress and expects the three-time Pro Bowler to return soon. However, Mora would not guarantee that Abraham would come back against the Giants.

Abraham went through two non-contact practices last Wednesday and Monday and said he suffered no setbacks. Both workouts were followed by off-days.

Thursday will mark the first time since the injury occurred he will go through consecutive workouts.

(Rotoworld) John Abraham (questionable, groin) practiced fully on Thursday.Impact: He looks ready to dress against the Giants. Abraham can be re-installed into IDP lineups and should wreak some havoc in New York's backfield.

This is getting old, but here we go again.

THE NEWS

John Abraham missed practice today, and has been listed as questionable due to his nagging groin injury. Abraham returned last weekend after missing three consecutive games, but was forced to leave early as he aggravated the injury.

Our View

Abraham may have come back a bit to early, and thus he injured himself again. We wouldn't be surprised to see him miss more time now, and the Falcons defense will certainly miss him.
