I used to, but the same ole same ole is getting a little old. Boom, look at his feet and the nonsense garble is getting worse every season. How many times have you seen his partner just roll his eyes at John when going off on something irrelevant? He's losing his marbles and making it very difficult to follow him. I would love to see someone in the booth that can actually teach the audience something about football once in a while. John seems more interested in his tur-duck-en than the football game. :)

"Boom" and "look at his feet"? Sounds like you're talking about John Maguire. Or Paul Madden.

I think this comment is 180 degrees off. Madden brings up fundamentals of football more than any other commentator I've seen. Especially when talking about the battle in the trench. He'll talk about hand use, angles that blockers take, knee bending, etc, and at the detail level that you'd expect to hear from a coach. I'd go so far as to say he's arguably amongst the three best guys in media for doing that, with Mayock and Jaws ahead of him, but then they aren't doing that in the act of commentating a game.

McGuire is definately the feet jedi, but I'm just hearing the same ####, different Sunday. If you're learning something from Madden, then good for you. My mom is still learning from him too, but she would also cheer when the team I was playing against would do something good. If "fundamentals" for you are "You see, he goes over here, then over here, then circles back around and... Oh look at this guy! He almost hit a cheerleader! He made that guy in the stands drop his hot dog..." :hey: I'll give him credit for being the only guy besides Mike Schlurpitup who recognizes offensive linemen and points out their individual plays on occasion. Giving the big guys props is ;) .

I am watching the same game on NFL Network...Just when I think it's the same ole, same ole...he comes up with the most entertaining "basic" observation that I can't help but think he is the best in the business!!

Al Michaels on the other hand... :)

Madden's a fixture. He'll be a loss whenever he hangs it up.And, Al Michaels is just  . How can anyone not like Al Michaels?

I used to hate him in the Summerall days, but now I find him tolerable, at the very worst. I think Michaels really helps, because he is smart and kind of feeds the giant bafoon ever so slightly. Summerall used to be so serious, which didn't work with Madden.

I think it's also largely because of how many of the announcers around the league suck. (And, I'm talking about the Sunday day crews, not the prime time crews.)

I think the NFL should work with the networks to do what the NHL does. (i.e. having each team be broadcast with their own announcers.)

This guy is on the money here, John. This thread is definitely..... OVER....

Madden never ceases to bring a smile to my face when he gets all excited about something, he will be sorely missed when he hangs up the microphone, at least in my household.

anything is better than listening to theisman on Monday night......I am so glad he is gone. Now just get rid of Korheiser and I can enjoy MNF again.

  I don't mind Madden, he is too likeable to want him gone. I believe Madden and Michaels is a very good combo, because you have the goofy, funny guy and the hardcore anchor type. They balance eachother out. Plus Michaels has a quick wit so he is able be funny as well.It seems like Theisman just looks for things to argue about even if he agrees witht he other guy, then spouts off in his nasally tone.

yeah Theisman will put a guy down for 3 quarters and then he makes one good play and the next thing you know, Joe is fitting him for a gold jacket. I can't stand that freaking guy

Madden is okay. His expressions used to be funny to me, but now they are kinda tired. However, I think he does a solid job overall. Al Michaels, on the other hand, is one of the best in the business.

Theisman sucks!

You've never heard Dierdorf call a game?

Michaels is too busy trying to convince everyone how smart he is. Plus he's too busy trying to figure out which team is covering the spread or the over/under. :bag:

my absolute favorite is Bill Maas. I remember watching him on a show called hardcore football with Ron Pitts and Ronnie Lott. that was the best show. Maas is money in the booth. he really knows football. and explains the game well.
