Yeah, saw his show for the 1st time in yrs just after one of the conventions and couldn't believe how he'd declined.I listened to him do his show this week. He was not on the air for the first time ever, but they recorded him doing the intro to the segments. He sounded awful. I'm surprised they aired it and am not surprised he has passed.
I was always a big fan of the show and seldom missed it, but he was no fan of Obama and the last eight years were not as enjoyable as the previous 40-50?
Oh, i dunno. I had got to know JGermond a little when i was a stringer during the '76 campaign in New England so I watched when he was a regular. Got to know what good there was in the conservative mind in that pre-FoxCartoonNazi time from that show. When you think about it, that show was kinda like Pardon The Interruption for politics. There wasn't much meat there.
First thing I thought of.
"WRONG! You all had Corn Flakes with bananas!"
That is always the first thing I think of when that show is mentioned.
Here is the whole Sinatra Group sketch, hopefully (amazing and disgusting how little of SNL is accessible for free these days). Not to divert from JM, but this is one of the funniest ever, w one of the all-time great lines, to Billy Idol (Sting) "they find chunks o' guys like you in my stool". Sry, back to the wake...Which of course immediately leads into The Sinatra Group
RIP - can this crappy year just end please?
Same here. Don't mean to sound callous in saying "phew, it was the OTHER one", I just honestly didn't know the first thing about the host.I saw this on Twitter and thought Mahavishnu had passed
WRONGGGGG!!Wrong!
RIP
ETA: Oops. deleted to add the RIP and got quoted first.
