John Walker Lindh, released today from prison (1 Viewer)

He wasn't executed because he wasn't convicted of treason.  He wasn't convicted of anything, he pleaded guilty to violating an executive order and accepted a 20-year sentence.

Since he was so eager to be part of the Taliban, send the piece of garbage back over to Afghanistan.  I'm amazed people want to give this guy a pass, just amazes me. I dont care what the article says either.

Keep your head on a swivel big fella.

Totally against vigilantiism for the record but this guy should probably order amazon rather than head out to Wal Mart.

The article does not state if he was in isolation or out of general population during his sentence.  You would have to assume that was the case or someone would have shanked him.

Who is giving him a pass? I missed that.

Yes it definitely is a pass. He's still alive & getting out of prison. Big time pass. Good luck to this turd trying to find a place to live. I'm sure his neighbors will be very welcoming.
I get the feeling you won't be happy until he is dead. I do not know what his mind set coming out of prison, maybe he has changed.

And no matter what you say, 17 years in prison paying a price. It is not a pass

So even thought you have been presented with facts explaining the details of this case you refuse to even consider there might be another way to look at this?

It’s always interesting to see how the same people view different cases regarding the concept of “treason.”  For instance, I would venture to say that many people who want Lindh’s execution would be very upset if people called anyone currently the subject of treason discussions in the news a traitor based on the level of evidence Lindh’s case included.  Me, I think he was a traitor in the colloquial sense but maybe not the legal sense.

You're right. Maybe he has changed. Maybe he is even more dedicated to jihad than before.

He was asked whether the militant group ISIS represented Islam.

"Yes, and they are doing a spectacular job," he wrote in February 2015, going on to say he supports their efforts. "The Islamic State is clearly very sincere and serious about fulfilling the long-neglected religious obligation of establishing a caliphate through armed struggle, which is the only correct method."

When asked whether time behind bars changed his views, Lindh responded in a March 2014 letter: "I feel honoured to have been able to take part in the Afghan Jihad and to contribute to the defence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, albeit only in a very limited capacity."

These comments should have prevented him from getting out early. However, his attorney and/or family probably got to him in the last 4-5 years and told him to shut up.
