Johnathan Wells news? (1 Viewer)

Haven't heard any news on him in a while - last I remember, Houston was considering re-signing him (Buffalo looked at him last spring I think too).

Is he still a FA? I thought he was good enough for someone to use as a RB#3 at least the way he backed up Davis last year.

He is a FA because Houston CHOSE Antwoin Smith over Wells.

Anyone know if its Morency over Smith or Smith over Morency?

Jonathan Wells reminds me of Reshard Lee in terms of inexplicable fantasy interest in him. Except that at least Lee had some big plays in actual football games.

 I am no Wells supporter and think he could easily not sign with anyone, but what are you smoking?Jonathan Wells has actually been a starter in the NFL and actually has 1167 career yards and 12 career TDs. Not impressive, but certainly more than the 144 career yards and 1 career TD that Lee has racked up with all those "big plays." Wells had one game in 2004 where he had 133 total yards and 1 TD, which equals 87% of Mr. Big Play Reshard Lee's career yardage and 100% of his career TDs.Again, I think Wells sucks and the only reason people talk about him was because he was a decent FF starter for 4 games in relief of DD last year. Mr. Big Play Reshard Lee has never had a useful FF start, unless you consider 35 yards and 1 TD to be a good game.

You guys need to stop looking at stats all the time and actually catch some of these guys in action. Wells is so soft, when the O line thinks about him really really hard, the stay puff marshmallow guy comes and destroys your city.

My post had nothing to do with Wells, just someone comparing him to Mr. Big Play ReShard Lee, the guy with so many big plays he makes Reggie Bush at USC look bad. You know, Mr. Big Play ReShard Lee, the guy with a 2005 long of 4 yards and a career long of 14. I am talking about Mr. Take It To The House On Any Play 1 Career TD ReShard Lee.

I only smoke the kindest...Jonathan Wells started 11 games in the Texans inaugural season. He had 2.7 yards per carry. Admittedly that was a bad team, but in the three years since, he has 3.6 ypc running behind the same line that Domanick Davis got 4.1 ypc over his career behind. Wells is also no threat out of the backfield. He's proven that he is not NFL worthy. His longest running play was a 37-yarder as a rookie. Since then he hasn't broken anything longer than 14 yards. He has a total of 4 plays for 20+ yards. As for Reshard Lee, maybe his numbers came in preseason (which is not a real football game), so I stan corrected. Either way, I think there is irrational exuberance over Wells this year, as there was over Lee last year.
