Jon Gruden to Raiders? (1 Viewer)

Been hearing it on the radio for a couple of days now. Hard to imagine Gruden going to a situation where he is not in full control. Maybe he and McKenzie have a good relationship and could work it out. Not sure why he would pick the Raiders when he seemingly could choose wherever he wants to go. Who knows

He would have to be a huge Pryor fan to agree to coach Oakland. That seemed to be one of his main requirements, a team had to have a good young QB. Palmer has seen his better days. I don't think Pryor will ever be a startable NFL QB though.

Not necessarily, he did it before with an old retread in Rich Gannon.

except for Marcus Allen.

Maybe I'm still not over the fellating of RG3 that was this past Monday nights game, but I can't wait for him to get off the TV so I'd love to see this.

...and Brad Johnson...in fact, the only thing he HAS NOT done is develop a young QB. To me, he seems very tough on his QBs, and prefers someone who will not screw up versus a young QB who inevitably will have growing pains. He seems very short on patience in that regard.

took a management position and then head coach for the Seahawks back in the early 90's.

Flores is about as Silver & Black as they come.

I believe I heard (or read) somewhere that Gruden uses a very complex play calling system that young QB's tend not to be able to grasp as easily as veteran QB's. I believe it was Pat Kirwan that said it.

Young players do tend to have a problem with the verbiage that infuriates Gruden. Well, Simms did, but he wasn't picked by Gruden anyway.

Strike ALL these comments.

I see why you brought up Allen -- yes, very public situation that led him to the Chiefs, and arguably unfair treatment by Davis. But that's ancient history -- do you know who lit the memorial flame at Al's funeral? Marcus.

Just because someone goes on to play or work for another team, doesn't mean that they still don't bleed Silver and Black. I think this applies for everyone here.

Except Shanahan. Who I don't think any Raider faithful cares about anyway.

Hmmm, Alex Smith?Unfortunately the Raiders need a lot more than a new coach to turn this thing around anytime soon. Not that they were special with HueJack, but they blew up a respectable offense and brought in a defensive guru who has nothing to work with. Their drafts over the last X years have killed them. Can look no further than across the bay to see how drafting correctly can help turn you around pretty quickly
