Jones: Bledsoe back to Dallas "not realistic" (1 Viewer)

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he expects to have veteran receivers Terry Glenn and Terrell Owens on the roster next season.Drew Bledsoe is another story."Well, I don't know that he'll retire," Jones was quoted Friday on the Dallas Morning News Web site. "That would surprise me. But it's probably not realistic to think that we could work something out here."Bledsoe has two strikes against him. He is due a $1 million roster bonus in March and likely will count about $7.5 million against the salary cap should he return. Plus, the Cowboys have a promising young quarterback in Tony Romo, who directed Dallas into the playoffs.Bledsoe, a 14-year veteran out of Washington State, has said that he would not want to end his career as a backup.Bledsoe had seven touchdowns and eight interceptions in six games before getting benched.

This is not really surprising. I don't think Bledsoe is ready to admit that he is an NFL backup. Where might he end up, or does it even matter?

Bledsoe is better than any QB on the Bucs, Browns or Raiders.
Good point, but he's not one of the 32 best QBs in the league, especially when you factor in the rooks. I know that doesn't always mean much though.

If anyone is going to plug in Bledsoe as a starter they better have a line that can protect the pocket. The first five weeks for Dallas it was constant talk about how bad the line was. Once Romo came in and could side step a rush you never heard about the line problems, even after he came back down to earth after his first five starts. Bledsoe can't move and doesn't have the arm that he use to. It's time to take the millions and go home.

Yeah, but he's a statue in the pocket and won't last 2 weeks behind any of their offensive lines.
You would think Crennel would have some interest.
Uhm, not at all.

:lmao: Uhm Brad Johnson is like 150 years old. He could go to Minnesota and be the upstart youngster! They have a pretty good line after all. He could compete with Brad and help teach the 2nd or 3rd round guy they draft this year.

ahh Bledsoe is just like Warner, doesn't think of himself as a back up. He needs a warm cup of 'shut up' and to realize it's time to fade away to "never won the big game" land.
