Joseph Addai (1 Viewer)

Glad somebody locked my post and I had to stick with ADDAI over Shuan Alexander. After 4 TDs I'm looking like I made the right call. Joe may have to get kept over Shaun now! GO ADDAI! ROY!

He seems to have good vision. I haven't seen him break a long TD, but he does have breakaway speed from his combine numbers.

What was most impressive about his 24/171/4 performance was his consitency... He showed great patience and vision making each run count... He had 0 rushs for negative yards, 2 rushes for no yards, 2 rushes for 2 yards... 15 of his rushes were for 5 yards or more. Welcome to the NFL Addai... Great Game!!!

Tonight was his coming out party. Next year he should and will be a top 10 if not top 5 selection in the 1st round of every fantasy re-draft league.

I wonder how much he'll continue to split carries with Rhodes?
He will continue to split carries pretty evenly. It is obvious the Colts want to keep him fresh for the playoffs. There really is no reason to go away from what has worked for them. Can you see one?

I could see a huge week 16 for Addai. The Colts might give him a bunch of carries so that he knows what it feels like. They might need a 30-carry game from him in the playoffs. Then he gets three weeks of rest.

Let's not go crazy yet. The Eagles D looked horrible tonight. No penetration, missed tackles, zero energy.Addai ran really well tonight, but I'd like to see him repeat versus a solid rush defense.

How about 17 for 93 against Denver . . .

Anyone else glad the didn't listen to the "He's the next J.J. Arrington" bs that was all the rage during pre-season around here?

I run into one of these guys every week.

Week 10 - CJ drops 38 points on me

Week 11 - Lee Evans drops 38 on me

Week 12 - Joseph Addai puts up 45 on me

I'll post a list of the team I'm facing each week to help you with your WDIS questions.

I stoled these stats from a thread on the Jaguars message board, but I thought it was interesting.

Maurice Drew since week 3 (since he was installed in the offense)

Rushing – 86 ATT / 442 (5.14 YPC) | 5 TD

Receiving – 30 / 311 (10.36 YPC) | 3 TD

Lawrence Maroney since week 3

Rushing – 129 ATT / 451 YDS (3.5 YPC) / 3 TD

Receiving – 17 REC / 168 YDS (9.9 YPC) / 1 TD

Joseph Addai since week 3

Rushing – 132 ATT / 681 YDS (5.16 YPC) | 7 TD

Receiving – 24 / 190 YDS (7.92 YPC) | 0 TD

I was actively trying to trade away Brian westbrook in my home league to be able to promote Addai to the starting lineup (LT is my other RB).

Addai is the new edge.

He was much maligned on this board earlier in the year for not doing all of those things. It's funny how "dancing" can become "patience" when you put together a monster year.Addai looked very impressive last night, and in the last 2 colts games I saw him. I think it's good he's still splitting time. He ran hard, ran with vision, and as always showed he is a good blocker.

The rest of the year. It is frustrating to watch as a Colts fan - the Colts are simply a much better offense with Addai than Rhodes, and I've said that nearly every week.
That's on purpose, and it's part of the reason Addai has been involved and is successful.
RB Addai Trying To Avoid Rookie Wall

Mike Chappell, Indianapolis Star - [Full Article]

Because Colts HC Tony Dungy has maintained a split backfield, RB Joseph Addai has yet to hit the "Rookie Wall" that many players run into in their first year. Saving Addai's strength for the long haul has been Dungy's priority from day one. "We wanted him to be good in December and January, so I think the fact he's not playing all the time and not taking every rep in practice, that helps us," Dungy said. Addai is averaging 13 carries a game while splitting time with starting RB Dominic Rhodes.
Would you rather have a burned-out and potentially ineffective Addai all the time, or a productive backfield with rested Addai and an ok Rhodes?

I understand why they are doing it - I've talked about it many times on this board. It still is frustrating to watch (it can be the right thing to do AND be frustrating to watch. The two things are not mutually exclusive).

He's been doing it all year against virtually all defenses - last night was just the icing on the cake.I agree it's way too early to anoint him the next Edge, but the kid looks VERY good, and has a complete game.

I like the fact that Addai was the chic pick to be the rookie RB bust. Anytime a "rank the rookie RBs" thread was started, everyone wanted to pile on that guy.

SEC = SPEED

I think people were worried that Addai would be the 2006 RB version of Mike Mamula. He shot up the charts because of his combine work - and the conventional wisdom was that teams were drafting "workout warriors" too high and "football players" too low.

Not to shabby for a 8th round pick in my draft. Everyone yelled at me about taking a backup early and I told them to S TF U. Addai IMO is going to be the man in Indy, sooner then later.

As someone who has had the pleasure of watching the Eagles every week, I can tell you that their run defense is AWFUL. They have been shredded the past few weeks. The lineman get pushed around and the rest of the team can't tackle. That being said, Addai did look good in showing patience and then accelerating through the holes. He has clearly been their best RB this year and I hope the Colts just feature him as I have him in one league :)

He was my only backup to Kevin Jones and boy did he make me happy today!
 My thoughts exactly. Here's hoping he can repeat this performance in fantasy playoff games over the next few weeks!

:lmao: :lmao: Settle down now. The Eagles are awful against the run. He won't have the redzone opportunities to be top 5.

I'm the first one to temper the sometimes out-of-control enthusiasm on this board, but to say the Colts offense won't give their running back enough red zone opportunities to be a top fantasy back is just silly.

Addai's value is through the roof right now.

In a Dynasty league the Addai owner turned down Ronnie Brown for him :o

If you're looking to acquire Addai wait until after next week when he goes back to putting up 15 carries for 60 yds

Addai got 24 carries out of 41 on his huge Sunday night game...when do you think Indy will run the ball 41 times again??His carries so far this year have been:71632013111718131324Which # stands out?He had 57% of carries in Sundays win vs PhillyIn the week before vs Dallas he had 56% of the carries and only got 13.So even if he ups his carries to 60%, its still very unlikely that he carries the ball 20 times per game.Maybe I was a bit low with my yardage...maybe he gets 17 carries for 70 yards but there is no way Addai is in the class of Rb1... he's a low level RB2 that had one huge game

If anything, there has been a clear trend of Addai taking over the reigns there. The Colts have wisely worked him in slowly to avoid the rookie wall, and his play has only improved over time. As his grasp of a fairly complex and dynamic offense gets stronger with time, and his confidence continues to increase, he'll only get better. Assuming you are talking about dynasty leagues, there is no reason anyone should be selling Addai right now. I think the poster above who indicated he could be a top-8 or top-10 back next year could be spot-on.

I'd take him top 5 if I knew Rhodes was out of the picture. Think Indy-Edge with a nose for the endzone. LT

The fact HE is the Redzone guy makes him a must start IMO. I will have a pin the tail on the RB with Taylor, McGahee and Addai...

Once the Colts get in the redzone, its Addai and no one else.

Have you looked at the data?????44 RZ opps not including last night. That was tied for FOURTH in the league among RBs and it's probably up after this week.

I won't give away any more subscriber data, but you can guess 2 of the guys above him. Not a bad ranking.

Addai is helped immensly by the Colts offense, but he's also hurt by the Colts philosophy of still giving D.Rhodes the ball for 40% of he time.Long term Addai might be very a top 5 back, but no way is he one now.Lots of things can happen long term...In a dynasty league I think he's in the same clump of RB's as Maroney, Bush, Cadillac, etcAll of them need something to change in order to truly be an elite back

How bad is this.....I had Addai/Chad J in my lap 3 weeks ago for KJ/Stallworth, and didnt pull the trigger.

Losing sleep over that one. I figured KJ was on his way to stud land and Stallworth coming back healthy would be close to Chad who was really struggling.

I try to read Bill Polian's (Colts GM) chat on Colts.com each week. His current spin is that he thinks the 2-back system is the future of the NFL, and that a team needs 2 good backs to be competitive. This seems to be a caution that Addai could still split carries to some extent in future seasons - regardless of whether Rhodes comes back or not.

The Colts got De De Dorsey off of waivers from the Bengals at the end of pre-season - and given a year working in the offense could be the "other" back next year.

He's a rookie, and there's always the fear that a rookie will hit the wall...I say keep splitting carries, with each game giving him more and more until you hit the playoffs and he's the go-to RB by that point, and still with plenty of gas in the tank.
