Josh Gordon - August 1, 2016 (1 Viewer)

Funny... all these nights out for Manziel, clubbing and living it up..

And yet, not even TMZ Sports has pics of him drinking? Can't be... He's paying ppl off, obviously.

Jesus, you racists... That is NOT Josh Gordon.

ffs.
I don't know anything about Insagram, but if you click on the picture "FlashGordonxii" pops up, and then links you back to Josh Gordon's instagram account.  Wouldn't Johnny Football have had to have done that link?

ETA - Johnny is giving the finger in the picture.  Great stuff.

it's Gordon... relax.

Life must be pretty good when you can hit the clubs, stay sober, and still pick up infinite amounts of tang.

We need to change this thread title to Soulfly's Thread About Nothing / SOULFLY'S THREAD ABOUT HIS EVERYTHING! (Josh Gordon)

Mind blowing how bad Gordon's judgement is.  At least wait until after re-instatement to hang out in public nightly with the poster child for dysfunctional NFL players.

(Rotoworld)A league source tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer itÂ’s possible suspended WR Josh Gordon "hasn't shown the NFL enough of a commitment to sobriety."

Analysis: Commissioner Roger Goodell said at last monthÂ’s Owners Meetings he would have an update on Gordon in two weeks, but there remains no timeline for his potential reinstatement. Gordon has stayed out of trouble during his suspension, though itÂ’s anyones guess if heÂ’s passed the leagueÂ’s guidelines. The Browns are viewing it as a bonus if Gordon returns for 2016.

What exactly is a commitment to sobriety?

Aren't you the one who has posted several times that we'll "hear something within 48 hours," or "rumor has it he's in NY to meet with Goodell?"

But this is completely unreliable because it's from anonymous sources (I tend to agree that this is a rotoworld, editorial, BTW)?

I'm wondering if you'd be so skeptical if it had said this:

(Rotoworld)A league source tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer itÂ’s possible suspended WR Josh Gordon will be reinstated soon, because he "has shown the NFL a commitment to sobriety."
Same exact anonymous sources, but slanted towards your viewpoint.  I think you'd have been using this as support for your position.

No. Any source claiming to kno anything, one side or another is full of ####.

Unless it's the NFL, Gordon or Rosenhaus, it's pure conejcture.

Probably not hanging out with Manziel in the clubs every week.
This. Manziel is the poster boy for drunken drug addict party boy in the league. And that's who Gordon chooses to hang out with these days. At a time when he's trying to win reinstatement and show the league that he understands the gravity of the situation.

The NFL has no reason to reinstate Gordon.

What is the incentive for the NFL?  Gordon isn't making an impact as to how much money the NFL makes but has the risk of making more poor choices and causing issues with the NFL image.  Pissing clean is only part of the equation.

The NFL has all the power in this instance but should just be nice to Gordon?

The NFL should just do it to be nice?
ok.

if Gordon has tested clean i personally think he should be re-instated.  But even his biggest fans have to admit he's a complete idiot for going out to clubs and hanging with Manziel while he waits for decision.
I agree but really it's just the delay in making his decision that is bothering me.  I mentioned it earlier in this thread, or the other one (I forget which is which), but not making the announcement at this point is being spiteful to the entire Browns organization.  They need to prepare for the upcoming season and knowing whether or not Gordon will be on the roster will have a pretty impact on their preparations.

And if they don't reinstate him, fine.  Just let the Browns know already.

Probably 100 or more players in the league right now w records and reinstatements that make Gordon look like mother theresa.

Ridiculous post. Absolutely ridiculous

I completely understand that narrative and agree with it on many levels.  But I think we are too quick to put a negative connotation on the whole situation when it is possible, just possible, that maybe Gordon is trying to help Manziel.  Everything that we know suggests that Gordon has been making every effort to stay sober and has committed to being in the best physical condition (presumably because he has committed to a football career).  I get that Manziel can be used as an argument to suggest that Gordon still isn't making good decisions but it also can be used as an argument to suggest that Gordon is trying to help someone in need realize that he, Manziel, is on the edge of throwing away something great and trying to help him get better.

I get the negativity, I really do (I would even admit that it is more likely based on the past) but I find it disappointing that I am the only one to suggest that maybe there is a more altruistic reason that explains Gordon choosing to hang out with Manziel.  Hell, I don't think even Soulfly suggested anything like that (I should probably be worried about that last part).

You don't think the NFL would want to permanently ban lots of players?  If they had the power they would.

Guess what?  NFL has the power now with Gordon cause he has failed so many times.

How's Daryl Washington doing? Justin Blackmon?

It isn't a ridiculous post, it's actually pretty spot on.

There is a sea change going on in the NFL that is making the league and individual teams far less likely to take chances on players with potential character issues.

Thanks Twitter.

yes, last season was proof of this sea change with all the violent offenders that they didn't reinstate.

I don't think that's how it works.

I don't believe the Cardinals were notified that Daryl Washington wasn't going to be reinstated. It basically happened the same as this. Deadline comes and goes with no news.

On Daryl Washington...

We know he was eligible to be reinstated May 31. We were told he applied for reinstatement May 8. We understand the policy to have everything in place to allow for a ruling within 60 days of the reinstatement application.

After that, we know nothing. Nothing has come from the team. The league has said there has been no change and nothing has come from Washington's camp.

Why don't we know anything?

The league doesn't announce whether an application has been denied. The announcement only comes with reinstatement. No news is not good news on that front.

When Bruce Arians was on Arizona Sports 98.7 with Dan Bickley and Vince Marotta in August, when asked about Washington, his response was standard -- "The league has not changed their stance at all."

Bickley then followed up with the question, "If the NFL isn't changing their stance, that tells you something, doesn't it?"

Arians' response? "Yeah."

it's already been debunked in this, or the other Gordon thread, using actual league policy as evidence.

You can choose to believe what you want. I thought the 60 day thing was true too

I don't care about the 60 day policy.  The fact that the NFL has not done anything yet only points to bad news, similar to Daryl Washington situation.

The NFL doesn't confirm or report a denied reinstatement application. There isn't a press conference saying a player was denied reinstatement. It just keeps on being status quo, like what is happening with Josh Gordon right now.
