The Cincinnati Post is reporting that the Reds have put Josh Hamilton on the DL and recalled Edwin Encarnacion.
Encarnacion figures to return as the regular third baseman, with Ryan Freel going back out to center field until Hamilton is ready to play again. Maybe losing Hamilton isn't good news for the Reds, but the team will benefit from having fewer at-bats going to Norris Hopper and Juan Castro.
