Just a rumor: Possibility of Holt to the Eagles? (1 Viewer)

I know this is probably mentioned in the Eagles thread, but some things shouldn't be burried.

ESPN Reports: Coming from a very reliable source within the Eagles' organization, within the next 24 to 48 hours Lito Sheppard will be shipped to the St. Louis Rams along with the 19th Pick in the 2008 draft for Rams' wideout Torry Holt. The 31-year old Holt, going into his 10th NFL season, had a very impressive 2007 season. He finished with 93 receptions for 1,189 yards and 7 touchdowns. This addition will vastly improve a struggling Eagles' wide receiving corps

Found here: http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/Lit...rry_Holt/178262Doesn't seem too credible.

 Looks like a fake. It's not showing up anywhere on ESPN.com.

If it is a fake I apologize to everyone for posting it. I guess I was fooled.

no chance the Eagles trade for 31 year old WR
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...l-pending_x.htmThe Eagles sent a fifth-round draft pick to Baltimore and defensive end Brandon Whiting to San Francisco. The Ravens get back the second-round pick they sent to the 49ers for Owens.

On March 16th, 2004, Terrell Owens was 30 years, 4 months old.

Close enough.
5th round != 1.19Please name the last time the Eagles traded a 1st round pick for a player.

tia :excited:

This rumor simply doesn't ring true. Eagles offer Sheppard and a 2nd for Fitz and are told "not enough"... so they offer Sheppard and a 1st for Holt? Nah.

At this point I expect the Eagles to be linked to every top-end wideout in the NFL, as they shop the package they offered to Arizona to other teams. PFT speculated that Torry Holt, Roy Williams and Andre Johnson would be targets that they might have a shot at acquiring.

So you're changing your statement because I proved the original one false?Cool.

Nice straw man you have going there.

Just a FYI but yardbarker.com is basically just a rumor site, with various rumors for just about ANY player in the NFL. Take what they say with a grain of salt. They had Fitz traded to about 8 teams last week.

Edit to add: ANYONE can sign up there and post stuff. It very easily could have been some hack just signed up to rile Eagle fans.

Sounds like a lot to give up for Holt given his injuries.
Yes, the 2 whole games he's missed in 9 seasons is very worrisome.
The amount of games he played without injury has nothing to do with his current health status. His knee should be worrisome.
Beat me to it.
Have anything more substantive than speculation from when he was rehabbing his knee last August?

So the Rams are going to from 5 wide a few years ago with Martz to no wr's this year. Won't happen.

Yes, the eagles traded for TO. Is that what you wanted to hear? No TO was not 31, and if you want to be 'close enough', add 8 months to TO's 30th bday.Again, no chance Phi trades for a 31 year old WR.

Phi has traded for an almost 31 WR using a 5th round pick and chum player. How that translates to giving up the 19th pick in this draft for a player who is in fact 31 ill never know.

I just heard they are trading Bulger and SJax too. Their plan is to focus on defense.
Don't forget about special teams... they spent a lot of $$$ to get Brown. My guess is they plan to run the ball and kick field goals when SJax is stopped inside the red zone.

It's not speculation. He showed up on the injury report for the first 7 or 8 weeks of the season, and beyond that it was well known and publicized that his knee was not healthy. Despite the great career he's had, at 31 and coming off of a season where he had a lingering knee injury the entire year, this would be greatly overpaying for him on the part of the Eagles.
