Just decided not to draft Golden Tate (1 Viewer)

Rookie WR Golden Tate was caught trespassing inside a Top Pot donut shop in Bellevue, Washington at 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, according to TMZ.com.

Profootballtalk.com confirms the report. Tate and a friend apparently got the munchies after hitting the bar scene. The only problem was that the donut shop was closed while they were scarfing down breakfast. Tate managed to escape arrest, receiving a "trespass warning" instead.

Hes a 21 year old kid who wanted a doughnut after a night of drinking. He didnt rob the place.
You mean other than the donuts. He robbed them of donuts. :shrug:Maybe it is all a PR stunt
On a related note, Top Pot recently inked a deal to become the official coffee and donut partner of Qwest Field -- home of the Seattle Seahawks.
Top Pot - so good you're breaking and entering to get some

I didnt see that he was actually in the store. How did he get in if they were closed? :bag:
Exactly, this is confusing. Honestly if he went into the store and started stealing donuts I'm surprised he got off so lightly. Really I agree this is minor; it's more weird than anything.Oh and for the record I probably would have done the same if they were out there in the open. Or I would have just left $10 bucks on the counter and wrote thanks on a used napkin

breaking and entering
Nowhere in the article does it mention breaking and entering. Plus, no way he isnt spending the night in jail if they did.
Yeah, it's not like professional athletes get special treatment by the authorities or anything.
Maybe they will get let go for a traffic violation, but no way is anyone getting away with breaking and entering.

Is eating a day-old really stealing?Don't they throw them out or they still sell the day olds?

Wasn't going to draft Josh Reed II anyhow. :lmao:

I'd rather spend nothing and pray Mike Williams revives his career.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll laughed off WR Golden Tate's trespassing incident at a local Top Pot donut shop."I do understand the allure of the maple bars," said Carroll, adding that he cautioned the rookie about entering the restaurant after hours. Tate, who lives in the building and knows a baker at the donut shop, said he was embarrassed by the incident. He won't face discipline. Source: Seattle Times
In the back of his mind (while laughing), likely asking himself 'What the hell did I get myself in to?'

He likely has sticky fingers from knocking back a few honey cruller donuts...I would upgrade him, as he will now be able to catch even more passes!

Arent you guys overreacting a bit?
No. It shows a lack of good judgement.Beauty is only skin deep, but dumb goes to the bone.
Not only that, but the fact that he received no real punishment will only make him believe that he can get away with doing whatever stupid thing he wants in the future.
:lmao:He stole a donut. His NFL career is over, might as well kick him off the team for $5 worth of donuts. How many of you did something like this when you were 21-22? Was that an indicator that you were (and therefore are still) stupid? Or was it just a couple of guys causing extremely minor mischief that involved no arrests, during the offseason no less? What a bunch of hyperbolic squares!

This is so not a story at all. But if you think so, don't draft him. I'll gladly take him after others have passed on him

"A buddy made the mistake of going in, grabbing a couple," Tate said. "We ate them. Nothing much to the story other than that.
Do they have swinging saloon doors on donut shops in Washington? It would be a big deal for me to "go" into a donut shop in my my neighborhood at 3:00 a.m....sigh, the FBG spell-checker chokes on "donut." What next, bacon (or is it bacoun?)

ETA: QUOTE from Pete Carroll

"I'm not disappointed in a guy being in a donut when they've got maple bars like Top Pot has," coach Pete Carroll said. "However, under the circumstances I think they were closed or they were trying to closed or something like that. "So that's definitely one we talked about it, and he's most remorseful about it and all that. I do understand the allure of the maple bars."
Things Miss South Carolina might say? Was Carroll the friend?

Top Pot Donuts are the bomb. Put Krispy Kremes to shame. If you're ever in Seattle, you have to try them. To die for. Okay, maybe not that good. Definitely worth trespassing for.

Are you guys seriously missing the fact that he lives in the building and that he most likely has a key to the shop?

Like Jeff H. stated, this is such a non-story and if you guys want to pass him up, I'll gladly draft him due to your negligence. I have currently Brandon LaFell ranked higher, but if I could land both of these WR prospects, I'd be dancing a jig.

I caught that he lives in the building, but it would further my comprehension immensely to know that he also had a key to the donut shop. Is that the way proprietors roll in the big city?ETA: How does one acquire a key, AND get busted for trespassing? Entrapment might be a better argument.

I'm going to pass on him, like I have in every league, b/c he body catches too much....drops easy passes and is over-rated.

Reason number 657 on how not to allow mundane spring/summer news effect your FF draft

653. Do not drop a player in your rankings, if he decides to participate in Dancing with the Stars, as you feel he is not focused on football.

654. Do not drop a player a player in your rankings if your #1 WR's team drafted a WR...in the 6th RD.

655. Do not bump a player in your rankings, if he states he is in the best shape of his career

656. Do not drop a player in your rankings, if he tweaks a hamstring in OTA in June.

657. Do not drop a player in your rankings, if he is involved in a theft of a donut.

I am assuming he has a key to the building in which he lives and thus has easy access to the shop. When the head coach says he reminded him to stay out of the shop after hours, it reeks of funny. He didn't get busted for trespassing, he received a warning. Probably along the likes of "Hey Mr. Tate, even though your landlord doesn't really care that you scarfed down a few donuts, it's not a good idea to be in there while the shop is technically closed."

I assume he does not have easy access to donuts inside a donut shop at 3:00 a.m. If only a journalist could make sense of it all.

Some of you do realize that you care about this more than

1) Top Pot Donuts

2) the Seattle Police Department

3) Pete Carroll

4) Golden Tate

My issue is with the article itself. The writer is either 1) Ignorant2) Intellectually lazy3) Intentionally vagueI'd still draft Tate the same as before I read this news.

Yeah, I am not sure exactly how or why that Tate was in the shop (job of the journalists), but at the end of the day everyone who matters thinks it was a 22 year not being very smart versus criminal/thugish, etc. so I am letting the exact details not be of issue.

I can see it now - they're going to renamed glazed donuts..."Goldens"

I'm as big of a G. Tate supporter as anyone... but I'm starting to worry about his diet. He tweeted the other day about eating hamburger helper for dinner at 10pm (not to mention all the alcohol he's consuming.... he was in Vegas over Memorial Day weekend too). Dude needs to realize he's a professional athlete now... not a kid in a college dorm room.
