Just decided not to draft Golden Tate (1 Viewer)

Obviously, not the brightest move. Will it harm his career? Not if he realizes what a stupid thing he did & grows up.

Anyway, as far as his NFL potential (barring off-field problems), Tate seems to be vastly underrated by the FF community. I've heard people say they're worried about his speed. I don't get it. Forget the Combine numbers & all that (I believe he actually ran better than expected, though) & watch the film. This kid has huge upside in the right offense. He's electric with the ball in his hands. I predict big things from Tate as soon as 2011.

I overreacted a bit earlier when this report first came out. It seemed a bit worse originally.

Now I think its just dumb young fun and am not worried about it. Hopefully the owner of the pick I want gives it up so I can grab him.

911 call reveals Golden Tate was 'being ######ed'

From the It-Doesn't-Take-Much-to-Believe-This Dept., Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate was allegedly drunk Saturday morning when he found himself offside in a Top Pot donut shop.

That is what the female employee who called 911 said, according to TMZ.com, which received a copy of the emergency call to police. The Top Pot worker said Tate was "drunk" and "being ######ed" when he entered through an unlocked door and stole maple bars at 3 a.m.

Tate and a friend allegedly took keys to the place and a "bunch of donuts" before running off. Tate allegedly then returned to the scene of the crime and returned the keys. He reportedly tried to blame his friend but the employee saw Tate "running from behind the counter."

Police issued Tate a "trespass warning," which is a half-step above receiving a pinky promise from him that it will not happen again. On Tuesday afternoon, Tate fingered his accomplice in the maple bar spree and apologized. Sort of.

Golden Tate and the lure of Top Pot maple bars

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Seahawks rookie Golden Tate answered questions about the incident over the weekend. He was not cited nor arrested, but he did receive a warning for trespassing after he fell victim to the lure of Top Pot Doughnut's maple bars.

Now, one thing to clarify. Tate lives in the building where the donut shop is located.

"A buddy made the mistake of going in, grabbing a couple," Tate said. "We ate them. Nothing much to the story other than that.

"Very apologetic to it. This is the wrong type of media I want to bring to the organization. I apologize to the team, the coaches and even Top Pot. As of now, I think that's the end of it."

There was no ticket, just a warning Tate said.

"Just kind of said, 'Don't do it again,' " Tate said. "Which I won't."

So, was it the smell that lured him in?

"When I got here, it was one of the first things I had," Tate said. "I heard about it. They're irresistible. It was kind of a foolish mistake that won't happen again. If you ever want some maple bars, that's the place to go."

As for any lessons learned from the incident?

"I'm very embarrassed to even have my name a part of this," he said. "Before now, I've never had some trouble in any type of school or anything. I'd rather learn on this than have something a few months or years down the road that's a lot bigger and me being arrested or cited for something. So this is definitely a lesson learned for me, and next time, I'm just going to have my buddy go in and buy them instead."

Of course that will mean waiting until the shop opens.

As for the coach, well he understands the temptation. It was the timing of his receiver that was at issue, not his taste or sense of smell.

"I'm not disappointed in a guy being in a donut when they've got maple bars like Top Pot has," coach Pete Carroll said. "However, under the circumstances I think they were closed or they were trying to closed or something like that. "So that's definitely one we talked about it, and he's most remorseful about it and all that. I do understand the allure of the maple bars."

Update at 2:51 p.m.: Mark Klebeck, the co-founder of Top Pot Doughnuts, appeared on KJR 950 AM with Jason Puckett on Tuesday afternoon. He explained the circumstances in which Tate and another man were seen by a baker near a rack of donuts. Klebeck indicated they had access likely from a door that wasn't fully closed when a baker used the restroom. Tate and his friend likely came down via a back stairway or freight elevator.

The police were called, which is following the store's procedures. Tate was given a warning, and Klebeck very clearly stated this was not a publicity stunt or anything like that. He said, however, he was glad this wasn't anything more serious.

"It really wasn't anything more than people who shouldn't have been in the bakery," Klebeck said during the interview.

Later, Klebeck joked he wished the cafe had been open 24 hours, then there wouldn't have been a problem.

This board is a funny place. When someone like Kenny Britt gets arrested for not paying parking tickets, it means he's a diva, degenerate with a bad posse, destined to be a washout in the league. When "Golden" Tate and his buddy illegally enters a store and steal the keys and merchandise, it's just innocent fun and nothing to worry about. You guys sound like idiots talking about the store being in his building, whether the donuts were fresh, whether the door was open, etc. The only reason he wasn't arrested, if you follow the whole story, is because after calling 911 because two people were illegally trespassing and stealing from him, the baker recognized Tate.

So what's it going to be. Do you worry more about unpaid tickets, or a guy with a proclivity for overindulgence in alcohol and subsequent illegal behavior?

I'm not saying that Tate's a bad guy, or that his NFL career is in jeopardy, but if you have to use caution in someone like Britt's case, well you darn well better be prepared for more bad news in Tate's case.

I think the biggest issue is being completely overlooked here... if these doughnuts are so irresistible and he lives right above the shop, this guy is gonna be 285lb come training camp running a 5.2 40. Your new WR might get switched to left guard. :excited:

Only kidding...but what a dumb kid. I'm guessing the rookie symposium hasn't kicked in yet.

Find the posts where poster A was saying Britt was a diva and where same poster was on here saying this was no bog deal for Tate. Then at that point you call call out Poster A.Otherwise your generalization is just

Tate is guilty of being cheep. All he had to do was call out and throw a fifty down on the counter and he could have had an all you can eat buffet.

Arent you guys overreacting a bit?
No. It shows a lack of good judgement.Beauty is only skin deep, but dumb goes to the bone.
Hes a 21 year old kid who wanted a doughnut after a night of drinking. He didnt rob the place.
Reasoning like this is the reason why our country is going down hill. Are you kidding me? Last time I looked 21 year olds were considered adults, act like it. Being 21 doesn't give someone a license to act like an idiot.

Does one incident = having a "proclivity'? It's a silly drunken caper vs deliberately not paying parking tickets you can afford. One's a conscious choice to scoff the law, one is being ######ed while drunk and doing no real harm whatsoever. Both are very low on the doosh scale, but there's a definite difference in intention between the two.

Actually turning 21 lets you into bars and is pretty much exactly a license to act like an idiot. I can't imagine you've been around ANY 21 year olds if you're surprised by this behavior.

You mean other than the donuts. He robbed them of donuts. :(Maybe it is all a PR stunt
On a related note, Top Pot recently inked a deal to become the official coffee and donut partner of Qwest Field -- home of the Seattle Seahawks.
Top Pot - so good you're breaking and entering to get some
Never heard of em before so it worked

Do farts have lumps?I'll let this one slide before rushing to judgement. Let's see how he proceeds going forward.
