just wanted to share some of my drawings (1 Viewer)

One criticism would be the way you shade. I get that its comic art but there needs to be some sort of illusion of shading. Can't go straight from light to dark, it creates too much contrast and makes the eye jump around the image. Contrast should be used to direct the viewer where you want them to go.
Tell that to mike mignola. I hear they made a couple of movies based on his work.

That shading is part of my style. Its not all about being completely realistic, but interesting

You want advice:

1. Get your best works scanned in

2. Work on improving your skills and developing your portfolio.

I know there will be a ton of reasons you can't, but why not come up with ways you can instead?
Im much less negative when it comes to art. These are my dream and im confident that I have the motivation and focus to get my skills where they need to be.Maybe I should do a comic based on the FFA. A war in a message board dimension. Icon is in first place to be the villian that wont shut up.
I wanted to be the villain. :kicksrock:
There will be several.

Im starting to get interested in doing character designs based on some of your screenames and post them.
That would be worlds better than your current shtick. Let me know how I can contribute.

Then work on your line work and be more precise where you place your shadows.

Dude, he's given you legitimate constructive criticism to an extent 99.8 percent of people couldn't. Say thank you and listen to him.

There's no such thing as style before mastery. If you want to be the guy who works with those kinds of contrasts, you need a dead-bang understanding of how light works, and you don't get that until you're super skilled with shading. Picasso couldn't have been Picasso unless he tried to learn to be Michelangelo first.

Ok fine I guess im just going by what I know now and not ten years ago. I know there are flaws but overall I dont agree that my shadows and line work are big problems here that is why I asked

Ill demonstrate what ive learned in the new sketches next week

I can barely draw a stick figure so take this for what it's worth. I figured Id see a thread full of congratulatory remarks and nothing but praise, surprised to see any criticism. These are amazing in my mind but again I have no art background. Nice job man. So many talented people out there.

Thank you.

Some of them are just being critical because of how they feel about me. Im having trouble discerning what is real criticism meant to be helpful and what is just hating

I have no idea your reputation, but judging by the comments in this thread, I'm pretty sure you didn't show us your work to get real criticism.

My real criticism: Focus on why you're being hated on, really unwrap this and find the source within yourself. Or leave this community and find a place where your disposition is acceptable. (I'm speaking from experience, I've been down both roads)

Annyong, I think I was just in a bad mood but I usually take criticism very well. I actually welcome it.

I take criticism better if you are more specific.

The drawings are good but not great. They are good enough to draw for a living. Has to be difficult to get that career started though. Not sure the OP has that in him.
