KC Chiefs Initial Depth Chart Released (1 Viewer)

The DC is very vanilla. For example, there's no way in hell Jackie Battle will be the No. 2 RB come September. Some positions are accurate, others aren't.

Is Damon Huard really 3rd string these days? And Jackie Battle is listed as LJ's backup?

ETA: Didn't see The Jacket's post. Which positions do KC fans think are inaccurate? Is Darling/Webb accurate?

Huard has looked really, really awful in camp. I don't know if he will ultimately be third string, but the Chiefs are screwed regardless if Croyle gets hurt.I would contend that WR, OL, TE, OLB and DB is pretty accurate. Don't see much if any movement at those positions. FB is anyone's guess, RB should shake up with Smith second and Charles third, the DL should see some significant moving around, and who knows about the MLB these days.

is Franklin really locked in as Bowe's backup?
As of right now, he is WR #3..... mainly the slot guy! I would imagine that if something were to happen to Bowe (please no!!), that Webb would step in and replace him

I read that Franklin is clearly ahead of Webb and Price. As the Chiefs opened training camp, rookie Will Franklin was first off the bench when the team practiced three-receiver sets.It appears he's moved past Jeff Webb and Maurice Price, with only Devard Darling left in Franklin's way to start. Darling and Franklin have both impressed so far, but Franklin's physical attributes compare favorably to Darling's and the Chiefs love rookies, so he could get a real chance to start.Source: Kansas City Star

Correct!! I read the same thing! Webb is currently #4, with Franklin at #3!

I am going to say 1) yes and 2) yes, but deceiving ...
Further, earlier in offseason, there was talk that the Chiefs might cut Huard and just roll with Croyle and Thigpen. I will say it now, Thigpen is a dynasty sleeper ... especially if the Chiefs ditch Huard. Croyle has injury problems. I know most are familiar with this stat, but ......

The Chiefs lost every game in which Croyle threw a pass in 2007.

As opposed to being fine with Croyle?
What is "fine?" They're not winning the Super Bowl with any QB in the league under center, and that's not the realistic short-term goal. In an evaluation season, yeah they're pretty much screwed with no QB other than Thigpen -- who will never be any more than a clipboard-holder -- to evaluate.

Branden Albert-T-Chiefs Aug. 1 - 8:08 pm et

Chiefs LT Branden Albert could miss the remainder of training camp with a sprained foot.

As if you needed another reason to not draft Larry Johnson. Albert, the 15th overall pick in April, played guard in college and already faced a steep learning curve transitioning to an NFL blind-side tackle. He needed this practice time as much as anyone in the league. It is a significant blow and bad news for Brodie Croyle as well. The Chiefs have no offensive line depth.
