Now it's down to Shields and ?. KC running attack has gelled the past month, but with Waters down this week what's the likelihood that LJ can go off at Miami?
The Charger lines in 2001 and 2003 were unquestionably much worse than anything LJ has had to deal with.It will be tougher than it has been, that's for sure. The line is now starting Jordan "I-65" Black, Chris "stinks" Bober, Casey Wiegmann, Will Shields and either a gimpy Kevin Sampson or a roided up John Welbourn. Kyle Turley can rotate in at either tackle spot but is hardly Willie Roaf.Basically, it's in shambles. The majority of LJ's yards will be LJ's doing. People have b*tched about Tomlinson's supporting cast for his career but he never ran behind a line this bad.
Wow, you really don't know anything about the start of LT's career. As stated a few posts up, he had to run behind one of the worst lines in the history of the game.It will be tougher than it has been, that's for sure. You may be right. I think Miami will be pumped up for this one. LJ will get stuffed several times. I'm hoping he busts a long one or gets active in the passing game..But he won't be busting them at 10-15 a clip..Waters' injury isnt the biggest deal, but Im sure on Monday we'll see alot of people incorrectly attributing it to LJ's bad game, rather than playing against an improving Dolphins defense.
From Herm's presser today:Is Bober going to start in Waters place? Is there a chance Welborn, Turley or Terry get moved to G?
I honestly don't know. Black is a better G than T. Turley...not sure how healthy he is. Welbourn was out all year and missed all of TC, so he's probably behind by quite a bit. I think it may kind of depend on the long term status of Waters and how long he'll be out. If he's just out a couple games, then I'd bet on Bober playing G and Welbourn/Turley at RT. If it's expected to be longer, you could see Black shifted back inside, with Turley/Welbourn at the T's.Q: How you gonna line-up on the offensive line this week? Bober in Waters’ spot? Turley at right tackle?
EDWARDS: “Uh…..we’ll see.”
Q: You playing a Nick Saban and not going to tell us?
EDWARDS: “No, I’m saying it in front of everybody in the world who will listen. (points to TV cameras.) We’ll have five guys. It’ll be OK. Five starters.”
Q: So you’re undecided at this point?
EDWARDS: “I would never not want to tell you. But you see all those cameras? Even the president can listen to this. But he’s got his own problems, bigger than mine believe me. But he does a good job for the most part.”
Q: Would you anticipate Welbourn will play?
EDWARDS: “Oh yeah, we expect that.”
Q: You gonna get Terry involved?
EDWARDS: “We’re talking about that a little bit. We’ll see. But we can only activate seven of them, so that’s going to be the problem. When you have guys at other positions nicked you can’t dress eight offensive linemen.”
Tomlinson's line - RUN BLOCKING (only thing that matters, funnily enough) - was not as bad as the dogsh*t in front of Larry Johnson.
You're right - they were actually much worse than what Johnson has and has had. This is to take nothing away from Johnson, he's a monster to be sure, but it's time to stop this revisionist history. Most of the guys who blocked for Tomlinson those years are now out of the NFL (for good reason). You can look it up.Tomlinson's line - RUN BLOCKING (only thing that matters, funnily enough) - was not as bad as the dogsh*t in front of Larry Johnson.
