Is Mike Brown really going to start over Pollard/Page?

Do you think he will even take snaps away from one? Is there one in more danger than the other?

I wouldn't be too quick to buy into today's speculation that Bernard Pollard is (again) in danger of losing his job, or that Mike Brown is the second coming of Rodney Harrison in Kansas City. Brown is 31 years old and hasn't played a full season in six years. He may be able to pull off a Darren Sharper like role and maybe play one series in three, but he'll have to prove himself much more durable.

I think it's more of an indictment against the potential of DaJuan Morgan than anything else. It's not as if this team is likely to seriously contend for a playoff berth this year.

So you think there's a legit chance he could get replaced like Morgan/Brown?

I think there's a small chance that Brown is the next Greg Wesley, playing one series out of three for either Pollard or Page. Pendergast also used a lot of three safety nickel packages in Arizona with Wilson, Francisco and Holt in 2007, and given the poor ILB depth, maybe that's part of the reason for Brown's signing. I'm not too worried about Pollard until I see something on the field.

Brown has solid ball skills, so he could play in some of the nickel and dime packages. Pollard is not the best in coverage, but I can't imagine Brown replacing him except possibly on some passing downs. I will add that being a Pollard owner means you have to listen to this speculation about him every year. But I think the Brown signing is depth more than anything, so I'm with Jene and not really worried just yet. But pay close attention to training camp and preseason.
