Keeper advice (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Hey guys - 14 team league, we start 21 players - 8 pitchers/13 position players and carry a 14 player bench.

We can keep up to 6 players each year, and can keep a player for 2 years after they are drafted or picked up from free agency. Drafted keepers are kept in lieu of the draft pick in the round they were originally picked. Free agents are kept by forfeiting draft pick 22 (and 23, 24 etc if you keep more than one FA.) We have to declare keepers before draft order is drawn.

I have the following that are eligible for keeper (round in brackets after name.)

Arenado (1)

C. Carrasco (6)

W. Ramos (17)

Snell (18)

Lindor (21)

Baez (22)

Hoskins (22)

Dahl (22)

E. Jimenez (22)

Devers (22)

I feel like Carrasco/Lindor/Baez/Snell/Hoskins are no brainers but I'm struggling with the 6th. If I draw a late first rounder then Arenado would probably be worth it. Interested to hear thoughts.

Depends on if you think some of the other top guys (Ramirez, Trout, Betts, Yelich) will be kept. You can make a case for Arenado at 1.04 so it’s not like you’re gonna be losing a lot of value.

If you want the biggest possible profit keep Eloy. He could be in the top three rounds next year.

Dahl is a pretty safe bet to return profit this year, and he could be like a 5th rounder next year. Devers I’m not sure but some experts like a breakout this year.

I think the locks are Snell, Lindor, Baez, Hoskins, and Eloy....probably lean Dahl but Devers is really close.  Carrasco would not be a bad decision if you wanted to stick with your gut.  I would not keep Arenado in this scenario.

Thanks guys. With 14 teams and 6 keepers available, there are going to be a lot of highly ranked guys kept for later round picks. For example, if you look at the first 20 picks,  Ramirez, Martinez, Lindor, Acuna, Yelich, DeGrom, Bregman, Judge, Story, and Freeman will all be kept. In the 20-30 range, Baez, Benintendi, Soto, Cole, Snell, and Verlander will be kept. That's why I am leaning to keeping Carrasco, because using a 6th round pick on a guy that will be gone in the first 20 picks of our draft seems prudent, especially with the lack of really good SP options.

Lots to think about. I'm leaning to keeping Dahl as my 6th because of Coors field and the fact that Eloy may not get called up for a few weeks and it costs me $50 to replace him in my lineup with a reserve.
