Keeper Rules for Free Agents - Snake Draft (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

I wanted some insight from you guys on what rules you have implemented for Free Agents in your league. I am of the opinion that those who are waiver wire wizards should be rewarded for their moves. If we have a 2 player keeper setup, I am of the opinion that you should give up the last 2 picks in the draft to keep them. Others in my league believe you should give up something like a 6th rounder for the free agent pickups based on where that player might be drafted the next year. That seems silly to me since we dont project what the other keepers, they are kept where they were selected the year before not what they are projected for.

Also, do you do anything different for players that were drafted and dropped? Would they fall under the same method or would you make them retain their draft position?

What other methods do you guys use?

Thanks

Pretty sure in the keeper league I'm in, all guys that were picked up in season ad kept count as 12th rounders next season. We have a 17 round draft.

We insert Free Agents as round 12 keepers.

Players drafted, dropped, then picked up again retain their draft round status (i.e. if Adrian Peterson was drafted in round 1 then dropped, he is not "keeper eligible" in our league because he retains his round 1 status and we can't keep players who were drafted in the first 3 rounds).

This is exactly how my league runs. Free agents have a value of Round 12 keepers and in a situation like Adrian Peterson, that is also how my league runs. Peterson was drafted in Round 1 in my league and even though he was released, Peterson retains his 1st round draft status if another team chooses to acquire him as a free agent.

In our league though, to keep a player, you have to pay a draft pick 2 rounds higher from where the player was drafted. So, a free agent would have a value of Round 12, so his owner would give up a 10th round pick to keep a free agent. As a result, we cannot keep a player drafted in the first two rounds.
