Keiland Williams, RB WAS (1 Viewer)

Look, I don't know anything about him, except they cut LJ and CP is older and bangged up. BUT, these are the type of guys who can emerge and win FF games for you if you take him BEFORE this happens, and he's on everyones radar, like Demytrius Thomas this week. If you have room take a shot.

Is Betts available for the Skins to re-sign? At least he knows the system.
I think I read something about the Saints bringing back Betts now that Bush is out.eta: And dgreen is right. Different system.

Now that LJ is cut and he has moved to #2 on the depth chart, i think he is a must roster at this point. There is no way portis will make it through 16 games this year.....no shot.
:lmao: Portis is a lock to miss a few games every season. When Williams get a chance to start, he may keep the job the rest of the season. Williams is one of top handcuffs to own right now and could payoff in a big way later this season. Why wait and have to worry about a waiver claim or bid on him when Portis goes down and everyone scrambles to get him?

If you're in a league with deep enough rosters to look at backup RBs, then sure, he's of interest.

But Portis will keep the job as long as he's healthy.

And the Redskins rank dead last in running at 53 YPG. And it's not due to Portis being old and washed up (or at least that's not th emain reason). The o-line is horrible at the run.

I just picked him up in my 16 team league.
What are your roster requirements and scoring system?
Start - 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 TE 1 R/W 1 W/T 1 Kicker 1 Def7 bench slotsScoring = Standard with .5 PPR, though kick/punt returners do get TD points.I dropped Kevin Faulk to get him.
Hard to say if that's a good move or not if I don't know who your other RBs are.
LeSean McCoy, Beanie Wells, Javid Best, Darren Sproles

Hmm... are you strong at WR?On second thought, this is more of an Assistant Coach topic. Why don't you fire up a thread about this in the AC forum so it can be discussed further.

Who would you rate higher going through the season John Kuhn or Keiland Williams?

Looks like Brandon Jackson is not going to cut it as a feature back...

Or do both teams look else where for better backup options?
What I am about to say is simple and simplistic, however, do not discard it's importance:Shanny just drafted Williams a few months ago. That makes him fairly valuable when compared to any backup. Shanny fancies himself an RB genius.

Take that for what it's worth.

Can we update the title of this thread to read Keiland "Terrell" Williams since his middle name IS Terrell  .

He was signed as UDFA.

My bad, Shanny just signed him a few months ago.

He may be an undrafted free agent but he was one of the most highly ranked running backs in the nation as a senior in high school. LSU has so much talent at this position and at the WR position year after year that a lot of these guys just don't see the field very much. I would not be surprised at all if Williams had a pretty successful NFL career. If Portis goes down, look for Keiland to be a fantasy steal. If you have room on your bench, he's worth stashing away IMO.
The funny thing is that Portis himself was a backup in college. I'm going by memory, but i believe he was the #2 at Miami.

What exactly are we getting spun up about? Do we like the opportunity more than the guy? Williams had a pretty nondescript career at LSU....

I think Portis was the starter, with Gore and McGahee as backups.

Yeah, you're right. Not sure why i thought Gore was the starter.

Just grabbed him for H. Miller. Be great if he panned out considering how nasty my RB depth is right now. (Forsett, Bush, Snelling...)

Just picked him up off the waiver wire for free. With blind bidding set at 100, there were teams that spent upwards to 80 on Tolbert and Snelling.

Surprised that no one bid for Keiland Williams.

He didn't ask if it was a good move or not. He just said that he made the move which I think is appropriate for this thread b/c it goes to value.

I scooped him in a dynasty. I just like his chances of getting real action in with the lack of other options in DC.

Both. He showed promise in the pre-season and he is now the primary backup to a aging hurt RB. AFAIK, others have said LSU doesn't tend to have a main RB, so he wouldn't exactly outshine others in his class.

Les likes the thumpers (Charles Scott) and had Trindon Holiday for the outside runs and screens. He is doing the same this year with Ridley as the thumper and QB turned WR/RB Russel Sheppard as the edge runner. I think it was a shame K. Williams went to LSU, I always thought he was talented. He fits nicely in a zone running system.

I picked him up. Why not?
I''ve stashed him since the offseason, and trying to trade him now. Not finding any real takers though. This just feels too much like the Torain hype from a few years back. Yes Shanny gets some serious production from these late round / undrafted backs, but they never seem to last for too long. He looks to be average talent, great situation guy...

If you want to flip him you'll probably need to wait til after this week. Doesn't get too much better than @stl so he might have a big day. Even in the likely event that he doesn't blow up, Portis is still a great bet to make him look good by comparison.

Is he a better stash than Rashard Jennings at this point? Weird to think MJD might be more vulnerable than Portis, but MJD's declining ypc is a little worrisome.

Bumping this because I looked up running game stats and Washington is dead last. Did this after reading a beat writer opine that the problem is the line, not the RB.

Thi season? With Portis and LJ running the ball?
It's probably both to be honest, but a talented back can get through smaller holes made by the lower end O-Lines. Hard to tell which it is at this point though.
How long before he's the next Brandon Jackson and everyone starts adding him? after week 3, after week 4 or after that?

After looking at the schedule...it's going to be after this week or after week 7 unless he blows up against some of the roughest Run D's out there.Week 4: PhillyWeek 5: GBWeek 6: Chi (D is looking scary)Week 7: DetHomerism here, but I see Chi or GB hurting Portis and forcing Williams to the starting role.
