Yep, the dropped TD hurt, but Newton is just not very good, and once a few things don't go his way, he gets that look on his face like his dog just died and teams know they have him mentally beaten for the day.
Middle of the pack - in the 14-18 range.Where do you guys rank Cam amongst NFL starting QBs?
Its easy to hate flacco but the only real difference between him and Stafford is that Flacco has a ring and Stafford has Megatroncutler>cam>stafford>>>>>>flacco
I certainly wouldnt argue with this. However I feel once he gets healthy and gets a decent line he can be really really good. Right now there are too many variables going against him.Middle of the pack - in the 14-18 range.Where do you guys rank Cam amongst NFL starting QBs?
Top 10, in no particular order, are:
Peyton
Rodgers
Brees
Rivers
Wilson
Luck
Roethlisberger
Brady
Romo
Ryan
I would then probably put Foles and Flacco as the next two, and then you have guys like Cam, Kaepernick, Stafford, Alex Smith, Cutler in the middle of the pack. Carson Palmer too.
Let's not forget the 73 yard post TD that was there on the first play if Cam throws it inside....KB even told him.Benjamin could have had a 3TD performance (outside shoulder throw in end zone that was un-catchable, dropped TD pass, and slant thrown about 5 feet over his head) with the drop being squarely on him (obviously). But, yea...Cam looks like a QB who may never meet his potential. He routinely throws line drive high fastballs off his back foot and can't seem to routinely put the ball in a position for his WRs to make an easy catch.
Brees connected on that 30 yard pass to Graham near the sideline on the last TD drive that was a fluttering rainbow over the defenders head into the bread basket. Cam seems to only make those throws on occasion for some reason (inability, unwillingness, lack of chemistry with WRs, lack of awareness...etc). That earlier pass to Olsen and should have been slant TD pass to Benjamin both sailed sky high. It's concerning because pretty much every NFL QB makes those passes after recognizing the play.
I might be jaded after watching Cam's last two games, but I see a questionable decision maker with no real improvement (maybe regression) after his impressive rookie year. Maybe Cam was hurt?
This pretty much sums it up. Kelvin would do much better with Anderson at QB, simply because the way Anderson throws (and most every other QB) is more akin to Kelvin's less-than-ideal body catching style.Cam has no touch and no accuracy and poor timing and basically just throws fast balls
Kelvin has to learn to catch Cams balls in game speed still, you really cant let them hit your chest/shoulder pads or they are going to bounce off
My bad fellas this one's on me.The breakout 2 TD game is tonight boys. All the Benjamins.
I chuckled.Cam has no touch and no accuracy and poor timing and basically just throws fast balls

But was inside his catch radius, so that's a positive.hes got so many damn dropped tds. so frustrating. thats like his 4th of the year.
Add me to this group. Catch the ones you get your hands on.This. Benjamin could have salvaged a semi-respectable game if he caught that ball.Cam did him no favors but 2nd week in a row he dropped a sure TD
Doesn't excuse Cam missing him on 3 others (and the total lack of creative play calling to try and get him open) but it was a pretty bad drop.
He is exactly what I thought he was going to be in the NFL. He is pretty much the sane guy he was in college, dominant WR 1 with drop issues. For the most part he does enough to overlook the drops.
Cam tossing a ball two feet over a 6'5" WRs head has nothingto do with Oline or receiving options.I'm a huge Cam defender but what we are seeing is what everyone was afraid of in the preseason. Cam has a terrible Oline (without both its starting guards tonight) and pretty poor receiving options. Benjamin has been great but you can only go so far with a relatively raw rookie WR. He didn't play particularly well but he didn't have alot of help. Playcalling was also pretty bad. The run game was working to an extent and forcing the ball to Benjamin in the RZ when Keenan Lewis was winning the matchup may have cost them the game.
He's just testing the limits of the catch radius. I was surprised he didn't come down with that one.Cam tossing a ball two feet over a 6'5" WRs head has nothingto do with Oline or receiving options.I'm a huge Cam defender but what we are seeing is what everyone was afraid of in the preseason. I've said sCam would suck from day one. They guy can run with a football. Big deal. That won't get it done as we saw last night. When you throw uncatchable balls and balls 10 yards out of bounds, you really are not good at what you do.I totally convinced that Cam is just overrated and I'm not fishing.
Someone posted the success rate of QB who play four years of college vs those that don't complete 4yrs (come out early) and it was interesting to say the least. I wish I would have kept that article. Anyway, my point watching Cam is not surprising in light of the article.
At the end of the day, QBs drafted high in the NFL that completed 4yrs of college were much more successful than those that didnt. IIRC there was only one or zero (I don't remember that was actually successful.
I wonder at is the Super Bowl rate is or even Hall of Fame.

Kelvin Benjamin caught just 2-of-10 targets for 18 yards in Carolina's Week 9 loss to the Saints.
A lot of the blame for Benjamin's quiet night rests on the inaccurate arm of Cam Newton, but Benjamin straight up dropped a ball in the end zone for the second-consecutive week. He also committed a costly holding penalty that wiped out a third quarter first-down run from Jonathan Stewart. Benjamin flashes jaw-dropping physical talent every Sunday (or Thursday), but has had truly abysmal hands through the first nine games of his NFL career. He's a boom-or-bust WR2.

Updated. Benjamin has sCam Newton. Bryant has Ben. R.Same here.I stand by my assessment. When Benjamin was drafted he was claiming the Panthers were happy with him on 240 but it's clear he's nowhere near that now. His questionable hands seem to have disappeared.Guys are looking like you know football.Benjamin has almost 30 lbs. on Bryant (some would to his detriment) but Bryant outperformed him on every metric at the combine by a good margin.Odds of that are very very slim. Not close talent wise and look no further than the guys getting paid to figure this out. I will go with NFL scouting dept over message board lod01Yep. Bryant will outperform Benjamin over the course of their careers.I'd rather draft the same upside with Martavis Bryant in the late 2nd/early 3rd round.Could pan out, but I'm probably going to let someone else find out unless he's dirt cheap.
Despite the weight advantage, Benjamin did 13 bench reps to Bryant's 16.
As for Bryant, the jury is still out. He's almost a year younger than Benjamin and has further to go with his route running. Wheaton had 6 catches his rookie year and has 11 so far, rookie WR's normally don't have a big impact with the Steelers.
Yep, claim victory now guys after 3 games. Smart move. We'll see in 5-8years. games
Bryant has as many TD's (5) in 3 games as Benjamin has in 9.Guys are looking like you know football.Benjamin has almost 30 lbs. on Bryant (some would to his detriment) but Bryant outperformed him on every metric at the combine by a good margin.Odds of that are very very slim. And YES, we know football. Benjamin is 6'5" and still can't haul in sCam's horrible passes over 1/2 the time. Early 4th.I was just offered Rashad Jennings and Kendall Wright for him. I would lose out keeping him in the 6th round next year if I trade him. Where would you project him being drafted next year in a 12 team PPR league? Maybe late 2nd early 3rd?
Hard to catch a high bullet with a corner on your back. And then when a pass hits in in the hands he drops it.
oof. You may want to re-evaluate your own abilities.Odds of that are very very slim. Not close talent wise and look no further than the guys getting paid to figure this out. Need it. It was a nice ride the first half of the year, but reality has caught up to him.Benjamin TD will save a lot of owners in the 2nd half
