I'm gonna make a bold prediction: At least 1 WR for the Jets will have a better year than KT.

Maybe more than 1.

I will take up to $500 of action on that claim, at 1-1. Interested?
You can put me down for $150.00 of that action. I'll even let you choose PPR or standard. If you win, you will get paid.
I'm in for $200, PPR or standard.
Do you really think he is going to take that bet? A clearly losing bet with people he doesn't know on the other side of the us? lol He's blowing smoke.
I would have taken the bet a couple days ago, but after last nights game, the Jets may be even worse than I thought.
For one and maybe more than 1 WR surpassing Thompkins, this is, sadly, not that bold. Be quiet and you can now leave this thread.
My evaluation of KT hasn't changed, it's just clear to me that the Jets may be much worse than I thought possible. Anyone want to do a 1 year sig bet, I'm still in.
:lmao:

Dude, you posted this fake bet AFTER Thompkins threw those numbers up on Thursday. I really don't know what has changed about the Jets in your opinion, but in the immortal words of Denny Green, " they are who we thought they were!"

For those of you that have waivers still to be run in your leagues, if you had a $100 budget for the year, how much would you bid on him right now?

I spent $31 of a $100 annual FA budget to acquire him. 14 team full IDP with 45 man rosters and 5 on the taxi squad, pretty sharp owners. Felt he was worth the risk given how the talent is very thin on the WW in that league.

Good question as I have a couple still yet to run. What would you pay for Colston, A Morris, Stevie Johnson, Antonio Brown the years that they broke out? This might be the same type of a scenario that we are looking at.

Signature bet includes a $500 clause and I'm in. Signatures can easily be blocked, otherwise, move along.
I don't know if you read news about pro football, but some things have changed since I offered that bet. If you want to pick a fight with some random person on the internet, that's fine.... just go find someone else.
If you felt the situation could possibly change so it's not in your favor, then you NEVER should have made the bet in the first place. A man is ONLY as good as his word. It's very sad, but obviously you can't be trusted. I've never welched on a bet in my life. Nor have I back pedaled out of one either. If I'm not comfortable betting then I don't bet, pretty simple really.

I'll be sure to take each thread you post in with a grain of salt in the future.

Woah, hit the brakes man. According to FBGs, Colston finished 14th (in only 14 games), Johnson finished 10th, Morris 5th and Brown 24th in their rookie/breakout years. Aside from Brown, do you really think KT will finished somewhere between 5th and 14th?

As to the question, if I was weak on WR, I would spend a solid chunk of my $100 to get him (maybe even up to 50%). If I was solid at WR, maybe 25%.

I like KT, he went 9.10 in a heavy FBG PPR 12 team draft today and I thought he was going to fall to me at 9.12/10.1. He is that teams WR3 in a start 3 WR and would have been my WR4/5 (I took Lance Moore as well). As a WR4/5, I would be very comfortable pairing him with Lance Morre. As a starting WR, I would not be comfortable as all.

Honestly, I probably would bid low. If the rest of your leagumates don't know about the hype train (unlikely) then you get a good deal. But he'll probably get picked up at an insane price by an owner who's all in on him.

Throw out a modest to low bid, though, and see what happens.

Blah, blah, blah, take this stuff to PMs and get it out of this thread. No one else cares. He made a dumb bet backing a crappy ### team. You guys jumped on it the day after Sanchez got hurt and Geno Smith looked terrible. Sorry, but the Jets landscape has changed and you guys jumped on it eagerly after the Jets played. If you were so confident, why wait two days to make the bet? His backing down is weak, but so is your guys accepting a bet two days later after the Jets QB situation CLEARLY changed.

The Jets offense was in the sh***er before they accepted the bet and it's no worse/better now than it was then.

I don't think it would be possible to be worse.

But if he had accepted the bet I definately would have wanted to follow it. Stuff like this should not go to PMs if it involves the player in the thread. The only reason it turned to crap is because he didn't accept any of the bets he put out there. This would have been a nice side story along with the main one.

I do agree it's over, though. But you can't blame the guys for jumping on it. Blood in the water...

To me in leagues of 12 team/ppr/25+ players on a roster, you have to know the tendencies of your league and if anyone is willing to overspend on a guy who came from nowhere and flashed in the preseason (Josh Gordon last year is another). I don't know man, I've seen guys spend 75% of their bid bucks on the likes of Kevin Ogltrees, Leon Washingtons, and Devery Hendersons, etc of the world at various times in the year because they missed out on Gordon, Brown, Morris, Colston, etc early on. Take a chance now on an unknown in a good situation or overspend to land a known lemon later.......

Could always land the guy and move him for value to another team very early in the season if buyer's remorse sets in.

Actual Thompkins discussion: he went at 7.09 in my 14-team league today, 37th WR off the board. He went just after Gordon, Mike Williams, and Hilton, but before Givens, Jeffery, Sanders, Britt, etc. It didn't help that his name was plastered on the Yahoo fantasy homepage this afternoon.

Ouch. If your draft is after today then I wouldn't even target him. His hype has officially hit the heavens.

Curious where do most feel he drops/does when the "main" recieving corpse is back in the lineup?

Higher or lower with respect to say the WR30 position..

who is the dead receiver in this context? Gronk?

Amendola was out but he'll be fine so if you meant corps...I'm still not sure what you mean-other than Gronk they are all there. He's been playing opposite Amendola for a while now in 2 WR sets and opposite Dobson in 3 WR sets.

I clicked out of this thread, sat staring blankly at the computer for like 10 seconds realizing I did not get the joke right away, and had to come back and say nice one.

So it seems KT, Amendola, Gronk, and maybe the Sudfeld guy will be on the field the vast majority of the time.

Thompkins is interesting. Maybe bid big and if he does well the beginning of the year with Gronk out and maybe getting a decent amoutn of targets, you can sell sell sell.

Yes that's what I was basically getting at. (Amendola, Gronk)

With those in and whoever else is on the roster, does KT stay the the #2 wideout?

And how does his production go with the other guy's getting there portions now to?

At what basic WR list # would you think he ranks around?

I truly don't know where to gauge him with a full recieving compliment.

Highly impressive.

Before seeing these Lions game highlights I'd only read the hype. He gets off the line unbelievably well and seems to have decent mitts. If he locks down the #2 position and they continue to get him the ball, this kid is going to be an absolute STEAL for those of us who got him before this game.

You have to love those catches in traffic he made. He's all hands with those passes.

the hands and the ability to get open....some really nice moves at the line to create separation and if you give Brady a crease he's going to throw you the ball all day long. I didn't get to see that game but read about it and peoples reactions. I was thinking of maybe sniffing around and seeing if anyone was interested in him but I just might put him in my pocket for a bit and see how does.

Taken it? You offered it. It was accepted. You didn't ever rescind the offer. And it was accepted in the same manner (via message board posting) in which it was offered.

You need to man up. You want to weasel out of a bet because you realize you might lose?

Betting, how does it work?

Not bad for a UDFA, huh?

What might his production look like for the season? Any guesses? I see him as a WR3 with some upside where he has a couple of big games sprinkled across the season.

Talked with a coworker today--Thompkins went in the 7th round of his standard 12-team draft.
Now that's a reach.
It is given where you could grab him last week. I got him in the 12th round of one of my drafts before his big game this past weekend and I have another draft this upcoming weekend. I'm going to grab him in the 8th if he's there unless there is some serious value player who fell to me.

I agree with this. I play in a dynasty league that has no waivers all offseason up until September, so always nice guys on the very first waiver wire. Around this time last year, I spent $400 of my $500 budget on Russell Wilson and Alfred Morris. Hindsight is 20/20, but I tend to think that the best waiver bargains very often come before the season starts and recent years have mostly shown that to be true...In the same league, Kenbrell is one of the few really attractive guys on the wire. I will likely go quite big on him. If I miss out on some injury opportunity type waivers late in the season, so be it.

Took him at 11.9 yesterday in 10 team ppr redraft. Was WR46. We start 1qb / 1rb / 2wr / 1te / 3 flex(rb/wr/te).

I always tend to go heavy on WR in this league, and grabbed him as my WR7. The guy after me told me he was taking him next during the turn. He ended up with Hopkins/Wheaton at the turn.

Wrs taken around him include: WR43 - Golden Tate, WR 44 - Alshon Jeffery, WR 45 - Kendall Wright, WR 46 - Kenbrell Thompkins, WR 47 - Hopkins, WR 48 - Wheaton, WR 49 - Sidney Rice, WR 50 - Denarius Moore.

I'm pretty happy with picking him there.

Seems like a pretty good deal considering who was drafted around him. I do like Rice this year, though.

Probably should be in the dynasty trade thread, but I know Kenbrell people want to see this:

Daryl Richardson

Kenbrell Thompkins

for

Jamal Charles

Not involved in the trade. 12 team ppr dynasty 1/2/3/1/1

Wow. That is a ridiculous trade. From what we have seen so far of Richardson, I don't think he has a snowball's chance in hell of being a perennial top 10 RB. Charles is already there and in some people's eyes he has the ability to be the top RB. Charles is also 25, so he isn't old. Thompkins would have to be Julio Jones or AJ Green to make this trade even remotely close to a good trade and while there is nice hype, there is no track record. Even with the hype, I don't think anyone is saying he is going to be in the elite tier of WRs.

I just did a PPR 12 team draft and Charles went 1.4 and Richardson went 4.8 and Thompkins went 9.10. Taking into account keepers, Richardson was more like the 5.9 pick and Thompkins 11.4. If you tried to offer picks 5.9 and 11.4 for 1.4, you would be laughed at.

Taken it? You offered it. It was accepted. You didn't ever rescind the offer. And it was accepted in the same manner (via message board posting) in which it was offered.

You need to man up. You want to weasel out of a bet because you realize you might lose?

Betting, how does it work?
No. It's like when a bookie offers a line. That line changes. It's like the line changed, and everyone is demanding I honor the old line. Not doing it. So, let it go. I'm done arguing with you idiots about it.

I hated the trade when I first saw it. The guy that dealt away Charles does crazy moves and they often payoff for him, but this one is going to haunt him.
