Keurig help (1 Viewer)

I do not drink coffee. My wife does and has had a Bosch Tossimo for years. She is having a hard time finding pods and has mentioned getting a Keurig. Figure this may make a good Xmas gift. She likes Mochas and I'm not sure all models can make them. Also, I see they now have the "2.0" models. Can somebody clue me in on what might be best?

I've been told the K55 may be a good choice.

Thanks. Appreciate the help.

We drink a ####load of coffee in my house and have had a few Keurig coffee makers over the years. They make a good product, but we just replaced our last one with this Touch model and I have to say I love it. It makes the hottest coffee by far, ready from off > brew in seconds, it has a whole bunch of sizes and also comes with a small carafe for when we have a few people over.

Also, these come with (any you can buy) reusable screen inserts that fit in where the K-cup goes so that you can use a regular can of coffee grinds in there. Thats what we use 95% of the time. No K-cups needed, just a Costco sized can of general coffee grinds and a few bags of specialty grinds.

I have a Keurig and bought the reusable screen cups immediately so I can just buy a regular can of coffee instead of using the expensive K-cups.

I had a Keurig for 5+ years.  When I bought a new one, the guy at Best Buy told me, "If you don't like it, just return it."  He told me that unsolicited.  He was referring to the 2.0 upgrade that basically adds "pirating protection" to my f-ing cup of coffee.  I got home and none of my old k-cups would work due to their stupid protection to keep people from making k-cups without paying them a royalty.

Something rubbed me the wrong way about all this stuff in my cup of coffee, so I looked for an alternative.  I ended up getting an iCoffee Opus.  Been very happy with it.  It'll use ANY K-cups, and comes with the re-useable filter cup.  The Spin-brew thing is a bit of a gimmick, but it does seem to get a stronger cup, and you can make slightly larger cup sizes.  The cup sizes can be set in 0.5 oz increments, which is nice.

So, I have a Red Keurig 2.0, the K200 I believe.  recently I've been getting the Oops, this pod wasn't designed for this machine error.  I only use starbucks kcup pods, they should work, but I've been reading about issues with the 2.0 and the exclusivity with authorized pods.  honestly, no idea why recently purchased pods wont work, but a hack online is to cut the top off of a good pod and simply tape it to a pod that gets an error message.  this has worked for me the last month, but it is quite annoying.  so, I decided to call keurig and kind of complain.  explained my issue to the rep, who explained that it is a software issue with the machine's infrared reader, since I am using authorized pods.  since this is the case, they will honor the warranty on the machine (I didn't mention this) and send me a brand new machine, keurig k select ($129) machine.  no fees, I just need to send back a part from the old machine.

just a heads up if any of you all have this issue with the 2.0, apparently a new machine will be sent to you.  I called Monday morning and its already in route.

Send me a different part of your machine so I can get a free one.
