Kevin Jones in a PPC league. (1 Viewer)

I know kevin Jones burnt alot of bridges last year but could this be the year he makes the impact. The offense will mos def be improved and more open. Martz loves throwing to the backs out of the backfield. Is it possible for this to be the year he puts up his last year projected numbers. I think he could hold some weight in a PPR league.

I have him projected for 35...50 at the most.

KJ dropped a screen pass that hit him squarely in the numbers in the first preseason game.

Well, for starters, Martz isn't the head coach, he is the OC. OC do call the plays, but they are the Head Coach's plays...Second, I would say the only reason Martz threw so much to his RBs last season was because he had RBs to do that. Faulk has excellent hands and S. Jackson also is a good receiver. Footballguys is predicting Jones to have about 50 receptions. Pretty good for a RB, however I don't think that he will rush for 1000 yards (neither does FG). Yes, he does have MUCH more value in a PPR league, but I wouldn't put him top 15 just because of that. He's another guy who has potential to be a steal, but I wouldn't put all my hope in him coming through- there are better options out there. If you can grab him as your #3 RB, then consider yourself lucky. If you have him as your #2... well that's putting a bit of faith into him, but you may see youself with a steal by the end of the year. It all depends what kind of risk you want to take when drafting your team, but yes, to answer your question- he does have more value in PPR leagues

If he's getting a lot of receiving looks during the pre-season like Jordan was last year, he'll move up on my board. Other than that I'm not sure how else to predict what his involvement will be in the passing game.

After last year, KJ is dead to me.
:goodposting: I was scared to draft him last year for some reason and I'm now conviced I'm psychic. Getting a similar feeling about him this year, but not as bad. He'll play and put up an occasional good game, but will lack in consistant fantasy scoring. A good #3, but not a reliable #2 for a fantasy team.

Kevin Jones is the second-coming of Michael Pittman.

Sorry, I know that doesn't answer your question. But it's just an observation. They're the same player. At times, KJ will look like a capable starter. Other times, he'll look catastrophically terrible. And when the dust finally settles, Jones will do no better than being an average NFL running back whose time as a starter in this league is both finite, and fading.

You can't just disregard what he did at the end of the 2004 season when I believe he had the most rushing yards in the NFL over a certain time span. You can't judge anything from last year's sorry excuse for a team.

Both pre-season games he seemed tentative and flat to me. No burst. I am very concerned that he will be a classic under achiever which seems to be a common thread with the Lions. Arlen Harris was awesome pre-season game 1. Its difficult for me to believe that Martz won't find ways for Harris to get involved more than Jones owners would like.

I seriously doubt Mike Martz will be calling anyones plays but his own. Martz would never let anyone change his playbook. The only thing the head coach can do is tell Martz to run more or pass more. After that I'm sure Martz handles ALL the play calling. Also Martz has not thrown a lot to his RB since the good old Faulk days. Jackson only had the ball thrown to him about half as much as Faulk when he was the starter.

Kitna appears to have faith in KJ's receiving skills.

The offense did have a few bright spots, including the 4-yard touchdown pass to Jones in the flat.

"That was a great call," Kitna said. "It happened just like he said it was going to happen when he was talking about it this week, in terms of the coverage. He was wide open and I'm looking forward to a bunch of easy ones just like that. I think you could've thrown that one."

Jones wasn't used much in the passing game last season because the previous coaching staff wasn't impressed with his receiving and route-running ability.

"He and I had a talk the other day and I guess that's been an issue around here with him, but he's caught the ball great all spring and all through camp and there hasn't been any issue," Kitna said.
