Jones is in the perfect situation. Like Addai, the defenses aren't able to bring up the safeties to stop the run because the passing game is so potent. This guy will be a consistently high performer the rest of the year. I would not at all be surprised to see him outscore ADP, especially in PPR leagues. Kevin Jones is my ticket to a championship (and yours too, if you have waited as patiently as I have.)

First off he has to stay healthy. Second, his schedule is pretty tough including the playoffs. Lions will have to stay in games to see his full potential. I like the guy alot but he's yet to finish the bulk of a season. Also there is the Martz factor in the red zone. We'll see.

Wasn't this week a tough matchup? :goodposting:

Martz factor? I'm going to lose again because Kitna can't throw a TD pass.

martz LOVES to run inside the 15

No. Not sure which Bears you have been watching this year, but they have been anything but tough.

Which is exactly why I wouldn't pee your pants about KJ being such a stud just yet. Also he isn't catching for squat. Sure he's good to have and I'd start him over a lot of people, but hardly the "key to a championship."

Wanna bet? As long as he stays healthy this dude is freakin GOLD!

Since he was the offensive coordinator with the Rams no coach has run the ball a higher percentage of the time inside the 5 then Mad Mike Martz. You couldn't pay him to run between the 20's but inside the five he keeps the ball on the ground.

I don't get comments like this one. Kevin Jones has some of the best hands out of the backfield in the game and Martz knows how to get the ball to his RBs through the air between the 20's.

KJ is one of the few every down backs in the game. He has the size to carry the ball between the tackles and in short yardage/goal line situations, the speed to break it outside and the hands for third and long situations. The Lions have absolutely nothing behind him. Bell was a DNP-CD today, we have seen everything TJ Duckett has to offer in this league and they just signed Aveon Cason (sp?). KJ has no threat of losing his job.

The only question mark on KJ right now is "Can he stay healthy?" well, fine, but short of LT there is no RB that gives you complete confidence so you just have to deal with it.

Anybody see the Lions game? What was the deal with KJ getting 4 carries for -1 yard?
I saw it. . .it was just sad. . . .there was nothing for him. I think it was a fluke to get neg yards, but also part of Detroit being so up and down. . . .that game was just weak

It's hard to draw too many conclusions about an RB who only had 4 carries all game, especially when he also had 8 grabs and a TD. Remember, even Tomlinson had a week with 17 carries for 7 yards, once.

I worry about his schedule down the stretch. Last year it didn't matter who he played...now not so sure.

He does have a tough schedule rush-wise. However, he can catch passes like nobody's business. This elevates him above his tough rush schedule. He probably could have had a great day rushing if Martz wasn't an idiot and decide to abandon the rush because KJ was stuffed twice. Very lame move by Martz.

Im hoping this was a wake up call to the Lions. You cant win when you dont run the ball. They know this, but fell behind by 14 and just threw the run out the window.

In PPR league of mine he put up 17. That's top 5 numbers or close to it. They only ran the ball like four times so his rushing total doesn't bother me. Detroit fell behind and it became a passing game.

:bye: When you get -4 yards rushing and they still throw you a ton of passes, plus you get the goal-line looks...you're a pretty good back to have on a fantays team. At least in a PPR league.I mean, what's he going to do-- run for fewer yards next week?

There's a come from behind offense mentality where ya run it some to keep the D honest but this...this was just silly, 4?

 The play calling was atrocious, especially in the 2nd half. There is no excuse for the number of rushing attempts. A 14 point lead in the 3rd quarter is not enough to completely abandon the run.

He can run for 4 yards for evey game for the rest of the season, as long as he finds the end zone and catches 8 balls every week. Most of us in PPR leagues who drafted this guy and sat on his dead weight for early in the year are now reaping the rewards.

I hope it's a wake up call too, but I think Martz is dumb like Norv Turner. When will these two idiots realize the weapons they have that they are not using?

The Lions did not have a drive longer than 3 plays in the entire first half in 6 drives: 1 drive was the Jones TD1 drive Kitna got picked on the first play2 drives Jones rushed for -4 yards on 1st down putting the Lions into passing situations1 drive KJ got stuffed on 3rd and 11 drive was a Martz passing bingeNow, coming out 17-7 to start the 2nd half they could have established the run, but they were moving the ball until McDonald fumbled. Arizona made it 24-7 and the Lions really had to give up on the running game. Even still, they were trying to get Jones involved in the passing game with 9 targets, and he left the game twice due to injury. The defense did not play anywhere near as well as they have been. These games happen, and I really don't think that Martz is responsible for this one. Kitna is and always has been a turnover machine, but the Lions have been playing from in front much of the season, and this is what happens when you get behind by double digits.

I wouldn't call being sore an injury.

I wouldn't call being sore an injury.
If it takes him out of the game for significant snaps, does it matter what you call it? Call it an injury, call it being sore, call it calisthenics, call it vacation, it definitely played a part in how KJ was used.

The Lions minus -18 rushing yards in Week 10 set a modern NFL record for fewest rushing yards in a game.

They struggled early with the ground game and then after falling behind by 21 points in the second half, they ran only three times after halftime including a reverse that went for minus -15 yards. The Lions will face another tough test against the Giants stout run defense in Week 11.
