Kevin kolb (1 Viewer)

With week 17 meaning nothing to the eagles, and Vick being hurt and resting, the eagles are rolling out Kevin kolb. Could this be a showcase for future trade value? Arizona, Cleveland, Miami, Minnesota, Seattle and San fran are all teams that could be looking for a qb next year.

Does Andy Reid take a conservative approach or does he air it out, as usual, and see if Kolb can put up some gaudy numbers and increase his stock for trade? What do you guys think?

My championship game has week 17 finals, and in my dynasty league I opted to run with Vick/kolb as my only qbs, assuming the eagles would win vs Minny and this week would have meaning. I am lucky this week won't be a shared game, and the more I think of it Kolb could be in line for a lot of passes. What do you guys think?

I thought I read somewhere that Kolb would start but the eagles are planning on giving a good amount of playing time to Kafka at QB, because they don't want to risk Kolb getting hurt, incase vick get's hurt in the playoffs.

I would not expect to much from Kolb

goodluck

I haven't seen that Kafka will play this weekend. The eagles would be wise to get Kolb some game time in case something happened to Vick, but the odds of Kolb getting hurt aren't anymore than they would be any Other week. I don't see why Kolb doesnt play the majority, if not whole game. If there is some inside source that has said Kafka is going to play a lot I'd love to read it. Won't help me either way, I can't make moves so I hope that is not true, thanks

Nothing to add except to reiterate what I think is the OP's intent of this thread...

Not to see how much playing time Kolb gets vs. Kafka, or how this relates to anyone's week 17 fantasy games, but to see if there's any info or rumors out there as to whether this is an audition for a trade down the line.

Some of us in dynasty leagues with shorter rosters would likely scoop up a guy like Kolb if there are some strong rumors out there of a Kolb trade this off-season.

I think Kolb is a good option this week if you are desperate to replace Vick. I'm in the same boat and will chose from a bunch of average QBs (Kerry Collins, Trent Edwards, Alex Smith/Troy Smith, Joe Webb/Brett Favre, Rex Grossman, Charlie Whitehurst, Stephen McGee, maybe Jason Campbell).

I expect Kolb to accumulate numbers, but I don't think Vick will be the only Eagle regular to get reduced or no playing time. So without McCoy, Jackson or Maclin for any part of the game, you have to reduce expectations for Kolb a little.

I've been hearing Kolb's name a lot for next year in Seattle. Nothing solid, lots of speculation obviously, but it's definitely something that people in Seattle FO have on their mind. Carroll still needs his fresh from school franchise QB to make his stamp on the team so IMO it's 50/50 that they pursue a starting QB veteran.

This....Like I said I have to start kolb regardless. I think there are teams that have seen enough of Kolb to think he can lead their team, so a trade in the offsetting I. My opinion is very likely. Remember , kolb is a fa after next season, and he's not flit to be signing any long term.deals with the eagles, I think we can all agree with that. So a trade seems likely, and the best way to increase his value is to play him and let him audition for some teams. I think he will play a lot, and I could be mistaken, but when Andy had to.use other qbs week 17 in meaningless games he still tossed it a lot. It will be good for avant, and cooper to get some time also.

Please take us off that list...we have found our QB (I hope...)

Some people feel Kevin Kolb has a weak arm. Andy Reid has come out and said that while he doesn't have a rifle like McNabb or Vick, he can make all the throws. It might be a good idea for the Eagles to showcase Kolb's deep ball in their final game to assuage any doubts about his arm strength. Unless of course he really doesn't have a strong arm.

The Browns are not 100% sold on Colt McCoy's arm strength. Because McCoy got injured and missed a chunk of the season, the franchise is in an unfortunate position of having to evaluate McCoy's deep ball in these last two games versus the Ravens and Steelers. That's all the time they are going to get because there are 3 QBs coming out in the first round with strong arms. They don't want to pass one of those up if it turns out McCoy really doesn't have it. The bad news is that scouts said McCoy's deep ball did not look good in the Ravens game. It was quite evident that Joe Flacco had a significantly stronger arm and could make all the throws, while McCoy floated a number of them, had a few picked off and probably should've had more. McCoy is a good kid with good leadership skills and a drive to succeed but the Browns still aren't sure if he can be a starting QB at this level. He might be an excellent backup, or more of a Brad Johnson type.

About this time last year carolina fans said the same thing about matt Moore. Cleveland MAY have found their QB, but their GM loves kolb and had a lot to do with him coming to philly. So I take your statment with a grain of salt.

Kolb only costs the eagles $1.5 mil next year. Vick gets hurt a lot and plays a reckless style. The only way the Eagles would trade Kolb is if they were offered a 1st and a 2nd next year or 2 1st's. He is worth too much as insurance in case Vick gets hurt or this year was all magic.

This is why I think they should start Kafka...see how well he can play and see if he can make Kolb expendable. They love Kafka according to all the preseason buzz.

Kafka is still a rookie. He'll be a decent QB one day. Probably a solid backup but its his first year. He'll get his in a few years. To rely on him as the backup behind Vick next year would be foolish.
