I don't think he touched the ball anymore after that run. Did he get hurt. Did he even get back on the field. If he is the future and they are 0 - 4 why not work him and use Rudi to spell him instead of giving Rudi the work.

I would like to know what exactly happened to him today..

Now with Roy and Kitna gone, I'm guessing more check downs to the RB's. Does K. Smith get the bulk of these or does worn-out Rudi continue to vulture touches? I'm thinking with DET already playing for next year, perhaps K. Smith gets back in the saddle - provided he's healthy. Anyone with updates on his shoulder?

This is how I see it as well. I dealt Ray Rice for Smith during the Minnesota game because of what I saw during the game. He hit the hole hard and didn't dance nearly as much as he has in previous weeks. I think the kid is learning what it takes to make it in this league. I realize a new GM could come in and decide Smith is not his guy, but I liked what I saw. Not to mention that he can catch out of the backfield. As long as the shoulder is not a problem I see him getting more touches in the coming weeks. Understand that this is the Lions and Marinelli is fighting for his job, so it may take a few weeks for them to really give Smith the carries, but I think he'll be the workhorse in a few weeks. They have to see what they have in him.

Kevin Smith (shoulder) returned to a full practice on Thursday.

The Lions say their rookie tailback is fine and he will likely be available against Houston. However, Smith is now Detroit's No. 2 tailback.

More football brilliance coming out of the Motor City....

That's Rotoworld conjecture as much as anything. The Official Lions Depth Chart has Smith listed as the starter... and it's been updated recently to reflect McDonald's promotion... so we'll see how they're used in the games.
