Kickers (1 Viewer)

Who do you like at the kicker position for playoff time? Do you generally go with the high scoring offense knowing you'll likely get some XPs and hope for a FG or two? Or go for the guy who you think has a better chance at FGs because the offense is just not that prolific? Do you take weather into consideration, trying to nab a guy who has all indoor/nice weather games? Anyone specific you're grabbing off the wire? Who and why?

Grabbed Feeley a couple weeks ago - after someone dropped him w/ the Nugent rumors. I think Feeley keeps the job unless he implodes.

Dropped Scobee for Stover tonight.

That said, kickers are a crapshoot. The best looking matchups can get you 4 xps, while the bad ones (on your bench) blow up.

Gost in NE has been steady.

Look for a solid offense, preferably a good D, and check the weather.

Had Rackers. Debated on dropping him and picking up Carney or Bryant. Went with Bryant. We'll see how that turns out in weeks 15 and 16. (Have a bye this week)

Longwell. Plays in a dome for the rest of the year, so no weather concerns. Is a top 3 kicker in my league, and with the defensive line players getting suspended, they are going to have to put up points to win.

I don't see how that last part helps. Opponents will be keeping the ball more and that can't be good. And if they get rolled by anybody (@AZ, ATL, NYG), they won't be kicking any FGs.

What about Vinatieri at home vs. Cin week 14 and Detroit week 15? He has not been great this year but could be very salty the next 2 weeks.

Mike Herman's Kickermania on Wednesdays is a great tool...that said, I did some additional research on my own earlier in the week for the top 10 free agent kickers in my league and will share...

Player Off Pts Team FG Team PAT 14 15 16

John Carney 352 28/29 36 @Was Phi @Dal

Jay Feely 340 21/26 35 @SF Buf @Sea

Neil Rackers 338 21/24 33 @Phi StL Min

Garrett Hartley 337 17/22 35 Atl @Chi @Det

Mason Crosby 334 22/26 36 Hou @Jax @Chi

Nate Kaeding 290 21/26 29 Oak @KC @TB

John Kasay 285 20/21 31 TB Den @NYG

Kris Brown 282 20/22 30 @GB Ten @Oak

Jeff Reed 269 22/24 27 Dal @Bal @Ten

Adam Vinatieri 257 15/19 28 Cin Det @Jax

Note Carney and Feely are subject to Game-Time-Decisions with Lawrence Tynes and Mike Nugent on a weekly basis, but also are on teams that put up a lot of points; which is how I sorted these top 10. Note the FG and PAT are "Team" numbers, so with Garrett Hartley (especially), you get Gramatica and Melhaff's lousy performances as well. (Included to show opportunies, which is what is key with kickers).

Ultimately, I decided on Jay Feely for my own team this week (provided he and ONLY he is active for the Jets on Sunday). I chose Feely because I also have Brett Favre and Thomas Jones; and want to make sure that if the Jets aren't getting into the end zone on Sunday, I am capturing the field goal points. This may be a case of too many eggs in one basket...but I am open to someone making a case to change my mind!!!

Good luck all...hope this helps some.

Good post, but your schedule is screwed up. In some cases you have 14, 15, 16; in others you have 13, 14, 15.
