I only wish each of us got to punch this kid in the face one time before he got killed.

It feels like being punched in the gut just thinking about any of the parents.First girl killed at the sorority played water polo at Westlake High School, where all 3 of my kids went. Freshman. I can't imagine what her parents are going through. Not as sad as it could have been though. Glad to hear all are well in yours and if your daughters knew any of the deceased, may they be strong for those families.Extremely sad day in our household.
His parents were involved enough in his life to make their 22 year old son take down youtube videos. And it seems he was seeing therapists.I wouldn't doubt that having things handed to him like that was in exchange for love. This kid felt nothing since 14 and I'm guessing all is life. He's probably a case like many kids of actors/directors etc that don't receive the love they need and are pacified with expensive things. Or if he really did have Asperger's Syndrome too bad it was never diagnosed. He would have received therapy as a small child and watched closely.
From what I'm reading, they did.On 5/18 he posted that his parents discovered the vids and had him take them down but they will go back up in a few days.http://www.docdroid.net/ckku/im-tired-of-seeing-losers-with-hot-chicks-bodybuildingcom-forums-.pdf.html
Takes a bit to load but he's posted in here..... yikes.
Seems the parents should have contacted the police instead of asking him to take them down!
Attorney Shifman said the Rodger family called police several weeks ago after being alarmed by YouTube videos “regarding suicide and the killing of people” that Elliot Rodger had been posting.
Police interviewed Elliot Rodger and found him to be a “perfectly polite, kind and wonderful human,” but noted that he had few friends and no girlfriend, he added. Police did not find a history of guns.
As far as you know. I'm willing to bet you've met plenty but you just didn't know it.I've only met one person with aspergers
Yes because comedy fiction is sooooooooo close to reality.Oh and the Asperger's would explain the terrible "acting" in the video(s).
Watch "Lee Harvey" here. Great example.
See what I did there? That's where you should have stopped.BTW: I'm not an expert
Funny thing is...I'm right.Yes because comedy fiction is sooooooooo close to reality.Oh and the Asperger's would explain the terrible "acting" in the video(s).

I was just using the clip from "Stripes" as an example of that disconnect between what most of us see as real emotions and reactions.
He wrote in his manifesto that if the cops searched his room that day it would have been over. From what I'm reading, they did.On 5/18 he posted that his parents discovered the vids and had him take them down but they will go back up in a few days.Seems the parents should have contacted the police instead of asking him to take them down!http://www.docdroid.net/ckku/im-tired-of-seeing-losers-with-hot-chicks-bodybuildingcom-forums-.pdf.html

This. What a weird dude doing the super villain shtick.unbelievably stupid video. the silly evil laugh and forced theatrics of it are really weird. sad
Something called the 4th amendment would have stopped them. Damn the Constitution and all.He wrote in his manifesto that if the cops searched his room that day it would have been over. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/05/25/authorities-detail-moments-terror-in-california-shooting-rampage/From what I'm reading, they did.On 5/18 he posted that his parents discovered the vids and had him take them down but they will go back up in a few days.Seems the parents should have contacted the police instead of asking him to take them down!http://www.docdroid.net/ckku/im-tired-of-seeing-losers-with-hot-chicks-bodybuildingcom-forums-.pdf.html

Yep. And there were plenty of people here who were concerned about him and didn't think he was fishing. This guy reminds me of a recent poster. I don't think I have to name his name.
There are real people like that out there. Not that he was out as far as this guy, but several striking similarities.Yep. And there were plenty of people here who were concerned about him and didn't think he was fishing. This guy reminds me of a recent poster. I don't think I have to name his name.
He had 3 guns legally registered to him. If he was deemed a potential threat, it would be nice for the police to know he had them in advance.Something called the 4th amendment would have stopped them. Of course it's going to happen again. The search for perfect safety, just like the search for perfect justice, is a worthy goal, but we're never going to reach it. It doesn't mean we should stop trying, but there are limits to what we can do and still have a free society. And having that free society means accepting that there will be tragic occasions sometimes.I've only met one person with aspergers and it's eerily simalar to the way this kid talked and acted. Not the content of his words but in general. It's horribly tragic but I'm not sure what we learn from this. I'm not sure what the solution is either.
The arguing about gun laws don't hold up in this situation since he fatally stabbed 3 people and he had no actually criminal activities before this anyways. According to Wiki, aspergers is now on classified on a autism specutrum. So, I don't think you can just have a blanket policy that says people with any form of autism can't have guns. Again, the guns aren't the problem the person is. So, how do we correct this?
It seems he was seeing multiple specialists so the basic structure was in place to help him. How did they not pick up on this? Maybe they did but can't do anything. Is displaying warnings signs but with no actual crimes being committed, some a psychiatrist be allowed to lock someone away in an institute? I personally think that is an extremely slippery slope.
I refuse to accept the answer of "there's just crazy people." It's a cop out. It is true but there's more to the story. His aspergers alone didn't bring him to this but I'm sure it played a major role. I doubt there is a single thing we can point to and declare as the problem but let's add up all the parts so we don't have this happen again.

brutal. I went to westlake as well. That was a while ago though. Played baseball with Mike Lierberthal which dates me.Glad to hear your kids are safe.First girl killed at the sorority played water polo at Westlake High School, where all 3 of my kids went. So long as they don't go to the SB Zoo today.Damn, Judge. Glad to hear your girls are OK.
Sounds like half the posters here.Entitled, sexually frustrated young man with Aspberger's syndrome and delusions of grandeur. Bad combination.
Et tu, Brutis? I wrote that it gave me chills. That's it.So long as they don't go to the SB Zoo today.Damn, Judge. Glad to hear your girls are OK.

Hey! I am not entitled.Sounds like half the posters here.Entitled, sexually frustrated young man with Aspberger's syndrome and delusions of grandeur. Bad combination.
I picture his hell would be to get locked inside of Wilt Chamberlains heaven.I'm not very religious, but in situations like this, I really hope there are special places in hell reserved for people like this.
He didn't even fall thru the cracks. We just can't predict the future.Sounds like the "system" worked about as well as its going to. The parents notified the police. The police interviewed the guy. In addition the guy was in therapy, so it's not a case of a mentally ill person not getting help. As regards gun laws, Califonrnia already has some of the strictest in the nation.
The point is this: as a society we did everything we could to prevent this crime, and yet it happened anyway. I can't think of anything much more that we could do. Some guys just fall through the cracks.
From the manifesto:I always wonder in these cases, did the guy go into this knowing he would die? Did he think he could actually get away somehow? Was he always planning to off himself or was that a choice made in the heat of the event?
“When I see the first police car come to their rescue, I will drive away as fast as I can, shooting and ramming anyone in my path until I find a suitable place to finally end my life.”
We did a training workshop back in August dealing with school shootings. One line from an expert on the topic stuck with me "we have to assume that school shooters have two goals: to kill as many people as possible and to die."I always wonder in these cases, did the guy go into this knowing he would die? Did he think he could actually get away somehow? Was he always planning to off himself or was that a choice made in the heat of the event?
Yeah, it ends that way so often that I think at this point it has become this narrative that the killers play out. It is supposed to end with their death. I'm surprised more of them don't try to or think they can escape. We did a training workshop back in August dealing with school shootings. Tim accusing someone of racism again. Par for the course.Et tu, Brutis?I wrote that it gave me chills. That's it.So long as they don't go to the SB Zoo today.Damn, Judge. Glad to hear your girls are OK.
Replace 'women' with 'Jews' and you have Hitler's manifesto.Pretty good summary here.

Seems to me again there is the existence of violent video games and also the fact that the cops did not institutionalize him after they had been warned.

Urban Dictionary: Brutis. A badass redneck that is really racist and likes to get drunk and fight everyone, while yelling racist slurs. Wow Brutis is the biggest crazy redneck ever.
It's the new "he listened to heavy metal music".Love the Asperberger's angle. That's obviously why he's a mass murderer.
Would love the Cliff's. Can't see forcing myself to slog through it, but can't help feeling a morbid curiosity.I'm reading "My Twisted World". I got through the first 70 pages and it's pretty sad. I brace myself for much darker stuff in the second half.

Otis must be talking about Mr. Ham.
