Bob McManaman from the Arizona Republic was just on ESPN saying that he expects the announcement of a Kolb trade within the next couple of hours.

McManaman said that Fitzgerald worked out some with Kolb in the off season.

Edit to add: Adam Schefter came on later and disputed that it was "within hours" but said it will probably happen in the next couple of days.

The deal's been done for a month, they just need to announce it.

Assuming we don't give up too high of a draft pick i am ok with this.....
I think that the draft pick will be better then the 37th overall they recieved for McNabb. I just get the feeling that they think more of Kolb as a QB right now then they did of McNabb when he was traded.

Is that real? Bob McManaman? Are there any reports coming soon from Bob Loblaw?

No it's not real. I completely made it up. :loco: Yes it's real. I don't know who Bob Loblaw is. I don't know who McManaman is either other than the byline ESPN had on screen as they did a phone interview with him.

And yet another QB issue will happen in Arizona, after the 2 years they give Kolb. I'm not a fan.

I say keep DRC, and go get Orton or Young for cheaper.

Ah, never seen it.

I agree with you except for Young. I'm not all that impressed with Kolb. He has been coached by some of the best QB coaches in the league for another year, but I think he's not all that IMO. But of Fitz worked out with him in the offseason, this may have been his call...

As DH said, Kolb trade has been done actually since Feb. Details should be announced today with Kolb reporting on Aug 4th.

As far as Breaston goes, he's a good guy but his knees are tore up. I wouldn't expect much from him.

So Kolb has to be in the top 20QBs in AZ and Fitz WR5ish?
Kolb is 21 in redraft right now on the site. I would think he has top 15 potential (possibly top 10) assuming he transitions well to az and fitz. Considering what fitz did last year with the disaster behind center, he should be easily top 5 if there is consistency from Kolb.

I really think the Eagles are going to regret this move. Unless Kolb was unwilling to suit up, they are crazy to trade away a very good backup QB to a running QB like Vick. With the concussion rules what they are, they could easily be trotting Kafka out at crunch time. Not good.

Or they could just sign a veteran to be backup QB.

If they get VY to backup, they are golden. 2 running qbs, similar playbook.Question is, can they?

Experts say VY to stupid to run AR offense.

Schefter also told the world on Mike and Mike yesterday that teams could sign guys yesterday. Not a lot of action yesterday...

Oh, I agree he's not a smart guy. But they could do a lot worse for a backup to Vick.Just would seem to make more sense than getting a traditional pocket passer. Of course the whole thing is unlikely anyway. But it would be fun.

Local Philly TV guy just interviewed on NFL Network just said he thinks the Eagles will wait and hope market for Kolb grows and they can get better.....of course he also said they want a 1st round draft pick which Arizona has already offered so I am not sure of this guy's inside knowledge

I really like what early doucet offers...He is a big possetion type WR that could fill in nicely. We would obviosly need to go out and get a stretch the field type guy to complement the others. Don't get me wrong, i love what breaston brings to the table. However, if he get a huge contract i don't mind finding someone new.

So he is clearly wrong.

How many spots will this bump Fitz up in redraft leagues, if at all? People have assumed Kolb would be headed there all along. He's been going in the middle of the 2nd.

Kolb has to agree to a contract extension before AZ consummates this deal.

You would think that would take a day or so minimum. In the meantime I could see the Eagle mngmnt calling Seattle to up the ante, that's what people do.

Hard to believe that is a problem since Kolb is already looking at houses here in Phoenix andthe Cardinals have had a deal on the table with the Eagles since before the draft

**BREAKING NFL NEWS**Source: The new front runners in Kevin Kolb sweepstakes is the Seahawks (Talks heated up with Eagles)

....Pretty reliable rumor source.

I just want to throw this out for discussion when we get caught up in teams suddenly going to other teams for better deals...they have had since Feb to figure this out and its hard to believe Philly would get a solid offer that they like and then shop him to Seattle. My opinion and that's all it is, but Philly IMO would not risk hurting their reputation by doing what some are suggesting. We don't really know what is being offered. Now if AZ offered a 2nd and just that, then perhaps Philly might say to them that they are going to check around for better offers.

Put another way, If I were an NFL GM and another team/GM said in good faith that my offer was going to net Kolb and then they ended up trading him to Seattle...not likely I would ever try and trade for or even away a player to that team again. Some teams seem to be able to form good trade partners and others don't.

I assume that you have no idea what discussions have really been going on? Did Seattle and Arizona both talk with the Eagles before the lockout? Did they talk during? Have they both been negotiating with the Eagles since? I think you are imposing your idea of what should happen on what may in fatc happen, and blaming Seattle and Philly based on presumptions you have no foundation for. I don't care where he goes and think Kolb is horribly over-rated, but when a guy is not yet traded, but available, I think the bidding is open until its closed.

Who are you talking to Catbird? The OP? For some reason I think you are posting at me.

Maybe a very interesting poker move by the SeaChickens

Did they sign Tavaris Jackson to competer with Whitehurst?

Does that mean they are out of the Kolb bidding?

Do they like TJax more as a backup but wanted the Cardinals to think they now had more leverage with the idea they might still trade for Kolb and then dump Whitehurst?
