KC will not retain his services, and he should get a chance to play TE again instead of FB. He's 6'2 251 with soft hands. He's athletic, but undersized. He could be a surprise acquisition for someone.

These 'tweener FB/TE types (Kozlowski, Kleinsasser, Sellers) never seem to pan out fantasy wise. I love them as NFL players, but I'm not optimistic of those guys ever standing out at TE if they're put there full time.

:goodposting: I'd probably put in a flier on someone like Ben Troupe well before Kris Wilson.

Can't remember where I read it sorry but the Packers were supposedly interested in maybe acquiring K Wilson - after letting Bubba go and with all the 2 TE sets they like to run, it would make sense to make a run at Kris Wilson. Anybody hear any more about this? ;)

This is from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal 3 days ago:Packers have strong interest in tight end Wilson By TOM SILVERSTEINtsilverstein@journalsentinel.comPosted: March 4, 2008Free agency in the National Football League is a tool to fill needs and that's what the Green Bay Packers are looking at doing with Kansas City tight end Kris Wilson. The 6-foot-2, 251-pound Wilson, a second-round pick in 2004, started 12 games as an H-back for the Chiefs, alternating as both a pass catcher and a blocker in the backfield. The Packers saw Wilson firsthand in a 33-24 victory over the Chiefs on Nov. 4 and they'd like to see more.According to an NFL source, the Packers have expressed a strong interest in Wilson as a replacement for recently released tight end Bubba Franks and will bring him in for a visit. Like Franks, Wilson has the ability to line up as a tight end or in the backfield as a fullback. The Chiefs list him as a tight end but his 12 starts were at fullback.Wilson is not a big-time receiving threat and has averaged just 8 yards per catch over the last two seasons. The 6-5, 265-pound Franks averaged about a yard more per reception over his eight years with the Packers.Wilson, who made $510,000 last year as part of a four-year, $2.4 million contract signed in '04, won't cost the Packers a lot of money to sign. But they will have to convince him that he will be an integral part of their offense and not a third-stringer behind Donald Lee and Tory Humphrey.Lee will be the starter again next season and the coaches have high hopes for Humphrey, who broke his leg in training camp and missed all of last season. The 6-2, 250-pound Humphrey has decent speed and good pass-catching potential and will be given every opportunity to win the No. 2 spot.In addition to the Packers, Wilson has drawn interest from the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs haven't shown much interest in re-signing him. With Wilson high on the radar screen, the Packers have scheduled a visit Wednesday for St. Louis linebacker Brandon Chillar. Today, Chillar is in Arizona, where the Cardinals are expected to make a strong push for him.

If by sleeper you mean in a Coma, then yeah, I guess so....
Wilson was very well thought of coming out in the draft - but unfortunately he ended up buried by Gonzalez. They switched him to an H-back and he did very well at that position but again buried for touchs behind their RB - I think he has the talent to do well in the Packer offense if given a chance. My 2 cents

Id agree with that assessment. Tony G said in the past that if he got hurt the TE position would be in good shape in KC because Kris Wilson was that good. I think that whoever gets him will be getting a steal. I dont expect the Packers to run the same offense next season (throwing 40 times) but having a gyu who can line up in the backfield - AKA BUBBA - is going to be huge.

TEs are big safety nets for QBs who use the checkdowns and id expect Rodgers to be dumping off quite often.

Ben Troupe now signed with TB Bucs. So the field of free agent TE's is narrowing. For once I hope TT will make a move here that will really help! As long as he doesn't trade a draft pick and it's just money - he should try and sign him.

No, I think that TT should stand patShameless Donald Lee owner that just traded away the Soldia!!

Take my comment with a huge grain of salt, as I have seen this guys play every game...

To me, he seems to not have the mental side of the game down. Maybe it is because the Chiefs took him about 2 rounds too early in '04, but he has never lived up to the hype that people like Al Saunders, **** Vermeil and Tony Gonzalez have made him out to be. He was a 2nd round pick and has completely fallen short of expectations. He is most definitely not a blocking fullback. He would be better off focusing 100% on TE and blocking better at the point of attack.
