L.J. Smith as bye week fill in? (1 Viewer)

A lot of GMs are in a jam this week with TEs with Olsen on a bye, Winslow out, Shockey questionable, Visthanhe Skianko on a bye (hey, don't laugh, he's the #6 TE in my league!). The only guys I've really seen discussed (or heard discussed on the Audible) as fill-ins are Zach Miller (though probably not available anymore), Billy Miller and Marcedes Lewis. But Zach Miller is going against a tough Balt. D. Billy Miller is caught in the purgatory of Shockey might play, might not, might play and not perform, etc. etc. etc. And Marcedes Lewis is Marcedes Lewis!!!

So why not LJ? He had a back problem earlier in the season that kept his numbers low but he's coming off a bye week and, by all accounts that I'm aware of, his back is fine. Reggie Brown is hurting and probably won't contribute too much this week. Curtis is taking his first snaps of the season. McNabb will be coming out throwing against the Falcons, who have the 26th worst pass defense. ANd we know that L.J has some talent (and is in his contract year, and made a plea for some more throws his way after last week).

Am I crazy to think that he is the play here?

He's an OK option. You have Curtis coming back, so he's not going to get too many receptions. The Eagles like to use Smith down near the redzone.

I give him about a 1 out of 3 chance of scoring a TD today.

At best, something like 40 yards and a TD.

LJ Smith is a good percentage play this week, imho.

Atlanta is near the bottom of the league in points to TEs.

With a fuller arsenal of wrs to spread out the field and hopefully a lot of plays in the redzone, Philly could/should definitely look his way.

Another option that I am considering is Dustin Keller if Baker is out along with Franks. Cotchery is questionable and the Jets (Farve) throw a lot of targets to their TEs. However, they might just get Thomas Jones more involved in the short passing game too.

Guess I am gonna roll with LJ for this week too!
