L. McCoy going forward (1 Viewer)

While solid, McCoy has not lived up to his draft position although much has been out of his control due to situation in Philly. Let's assume Foles is the QB for the rest of the year, are you buying or selling McCoy at this point?

Pros:

-With Foles, could go more conservative and feed McCoy

-With Foles, possibly more check downs and screens to McCoy, he has not been used much in the passing game this year.

Cons:

-O-Line is still battered and horrible

-With Foles, no threat of Vick running and possibly less dynamic offense overall, teams game plan more to stop the run.

what say you?

In the past, when Reid has been forced to go to a back-up QB, he has run the ball more. However, with the shambles of an O-line in Philly, running lanes might be hard to come by. That being said, McCoy is still a top RB option. If you don't have multiple top-10 RBs behind him, you have to keep starting him.

Buying.

Andy Reid has historically gotten slightly more conservative with his offenses when the backup comes in. Add to that, the Eagles are playing a slew of average to mediocre defenses the rest of the way. The only troubling thing is the offense line sucks, but Shady is good enough to negate some of their suckiness.

Buy. I don't think they will expose Foles. I think the easiest/logical path that might help salvage any chance he might have at keeping his job is to run more and if it doesn't work out, say "we did what we had to because we couldn't turn Foles loose."

I've seen the schedule and I think they CAN run on some of these teams.

There is a nice little stat being buzzed around this week that basically says Shady running 20+ times =undefeated and can't win a game when they don't. I think the team has to pay attention to that.

Overall, I see mroe reasons to have shady than not.

Well McCoy has somehow managed to be fairly effective despite being hit behind the line like 30% of his attempts (most in the league) and having incompetent playcalling. He's still just as nasty as ever but they often ignore him for long stretches of the game, and god forbid giving him the ball inside the 5 (why let a guy who scored 20 td's last year get the ball when you suck in the red zone  ).

Anyway, I think overall its a push or a slight positive because usually rookie QB's are very much willing to check that baby down whenever they can. 6-8 catches a week or something are huge for PPR.

BTW... when Shady gets 20 carries the Eagles are 3-0. When he doesn't get 20 carries, 0-6. I know that's a flawed stat in many ways but nonetheless... sigh.

I don't have him but am not looking to buy him in any leagues unless the price is discounted. I know Vick has not had a good year but he's better than Foles IMO. Teams are going to sell out to stop the run and they don't need to respect Vick's running ability any longer. That coupled with shorter/more ineffective drives will likely lead to fewer touches and less red zone opportunities.

The Philly "braintrust", using the term as loosely as humanly possible, must be more than aware of those numbers with Shady, they apparently just don't give a ####. A 20-TD guy from last year is an afterthought while they insist on having the human turnover machine throw the ball on nearly every down and take an unholy beating every time he drops back. The Eagles are too busy trying to show everyone how clever they are with picket-fence pass plays from the 2 yd line, or lateral passes on kickoff returns, to be so boring as to hand the ball off to a stud runner. Foles had 32 attempts AFTER Vick went out, so they weren't trying to ease the rookie in against a tough pass defense. I love Shady, and hope I'm wrong, but I think it's just more of the same the rest of the way. On the plus side, he'll be running for a different coach next year who will hopefully realize what he has, something Reid is apparently incapable of.

I suspect this is more due to the fact that they had a game-plan (if you want to call it that) and Reid and Marty are god-awful at making in game adjustments. If history tells us anything, with a week to plan, the play-calling will be modified to help the back up-meaning short passes and lots of runs. Shady is a must grab now, IMHO. Bold prediction: Shady has his best game of the year this week-150 total yards and 2 scores.

Spent all my remaining FAAB to grab DX last week, so don't have any left to get the handcuff now. Poor planning on my part, lesson learned the hard way
