Lamar Miller, 2016, Infinity and beyond (1 Viewer)

Just dumped um.. (rather have WW fodder at this point)

But

It's in a 10 team league with good RB's on my team and good WW fodder.

Miller owner in a 1PPR offering me Miller/Aj Green for my Foster/Colston.

Miller was on my do not draft list and after reading the mixed reviews here I'm still leaning against it. I've got Bush/DT as my other big RB/WR.

Current Miller/Foster owners thoughts on this deal?

Frmo Rotos week 2 Ranking

Thomas fared a bit “better” — he gained 14 yards on eight carries — but only because the Dolphins, a zone-blocking team, appeared to adopt more of a power mentality when he got the rock.

just wow

Browns just overwhelmed the Phins at the point of attack.

Miller is a straight line runner lacking power, but to his defense there was nowhere to run last Sunday. Lamar will probably break a couple big runs, but their won't be consistency with this team in the run game. I'd consider him or Thomas or whomever winds up starting no more than a RB3/matchup play.

Rotoworld has been doing this ALLLLLL off season with Miller and I still don't understand it. Is Lamar Miller paying them on the side to push his hype train? Everything we've seen on the field and heard from the coaches have told us that this is a situation to avoid and all we keep hearing from Rotoworld is that Lamar Miller is the 2nd coming of Barry Sanders.

you heard Barry Sanders?

I heard next Emmitt Smith with a side of Marshall Faulk

I still do not get the hype for this guy.

- Did he even have one game where he got 15+ fantasy pts last year? NO

- Did he do anything in the preseason? NO

- Does he play on a team that has a crappy OL that lost its best OL to FA from last year? YES

- Does he have a back up who is a high draft pick and despite being a plodder, will be getting goal line carries? YES

- Did this team create a lot of hype in the off season by signing a one trick pony at WR who can only run deep out routes? YES

I cannot believe people make the mistake of spending their 3rd to 5th round picks on players like this expecting RB2 production.....sure way to lose your league.

Everything I saw from Miller in the preseason had me thinking this was going to be his break out year. I'm fairly shocked at his output in Sunday's game. I didn't think he was the next coming of Marshall Faulk or Barry Sanders but I felt he was going to be a top 15 back. I was in a bar during the game watching ALL the games so I didn't pay close attention to every carry but from what I did see and what I've read, the line did a horrific job of blocking. That also seems strange as the line performed fairly well in the preseason. I want to see another game before I jump off this train.

Dont sleep on the Browns front 7. Its not a bunch of slappies.

Probably see his true colors more so against the Colts

I don't think the hype was from anything other than what people saw of his running ability on the field. He did not get opportunities as a rookie last year because he was 3rd on the depth chart with Reggie Bush there and Daniel Thomas having a better grasp of the offense (I don't think anyone has accused Miller of being brilliant). I know I liked him based on his YPC from last year and highlights I watched that displayed his explosiveness and vision. Also bush leaving and his obvious talent advantage over Daniel Thomas resulted in me getting him in my dynasty league and drafting him in the 5th round in another league.

Can't wait for this thread to be bumped when Miller goes off on Sunday!

* yes I'm starting him due to no other options!

I have no choice but to agree with Sweetness here... I honestly haven't seen anything from Lamar Miller that makes me understand the hype. Watched tons of college footage, all his preseason footage and all his 2012 footage and all I've seen is a 4.4 runner with average vision and power, above average patience and no lateral agility on a team that may end up having one of the bottom 5 offensive lines and no high powered passing game to take some of the pressure off of him. I just... don't see it. Every time I see Miller run, I see him hit the ground once someone even brushes up against his shoulder. That isn't the kind of thing I want to see in a RB>

Browns allowed .2 yards before contact last week. Colts allowed 4. If miller cant get it together this week, all bets are off.
I didn't get to watch the game last week. Just my stat tracker showing Miller rush for 3 yards.

Can he pull it together this week? Is the Dolphins line the problem?

I can't afford another scratch on my scorecard.

I've still seen nothing to convince me that he's not Tatum Bell.

I am starting JThomas over him at my Flex but hate to sell so early in a dynasty ...was offered Decker for him ...I am holding and hoping for a rebound from last week.

In the same boat, but I think this thread will be bumped to mock vs. celebrate his Week 2 efforts. He just didn't look good, and I think we all agree on this. Run to the line, fall at it. I think if he splits carries with Thomas and does nothing with them, again, for a second week in a row vs. the Indy run D, he moves to the potential drop-able bucket for me. I think one week is an over-reaction, sure. Two weeks is "if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck..." territory. Sell if you can, drop if you need to if he does this again.

Can someone show me footage where Miller doesn't just run until he gets hit and falls down? I'd love to know what his yards after contact were in college and last season (can't find that stat anywhere... I'm sure it exists). Cause every piece of footage I find on the kid it seems like him hitting a defenders shoe lace is enough to bring him down.

Anyone starting Miller today? The matchup is certainly better than last week, but still nervous about counting on him....any recent news Miami homers?

I'm starting him over Cecil Shorts, Vincent Brown, and Marlon Brown in a non-ppr league as my flex. Not really confident in this decision.

He's on my bench in one league where I can afford him to be and in my lineup in one league where I can't afford to bench him...I'm going to reserve FULL bust status talk for now, but I am pretty much admitting that I THINK I totally whiffed on this kid in my predraft analysis. His prospects don't look so good. Really hoping he shows us something today...SOME reason to hold out hope. Another stinker and Im starting ingram over him moving forward...

Only own him in one league, PPR. Starting Bradshaw and Murray over him. Had a tough time deciding between him, Mendenhall and Bradshaw.

I'm actually on the fence with him in my flex over Julius Thomas myself
I am starting JThomas over Miller at my Flex

I got cute and started DeAngelo over Miller today.

:wall:
I did the same thing (and benched him for DRich in another league), but I'm not really upset about it. It's not like Miller is some stud you benched for a scrub with a better matchup. DeWill has been ranked higher for the week by just about every ranking I've seen. When a guy looks as bad as Miller did last week, he rides bench until he shows you something (if you have a good backup option). Even though it hurts to see a good game on the bench, it's good for your team in the long run.

I haven't been watching. I'd like to hear some appraisals of his performance (beyond what the stats tell you) by those of you who have been.

but did he really llok bad, or is Cleveland run D that good?

Didn't get to watch yet. How did he get the work early on and then didn't touch the ball for quite a long time despite good numbers early? How did he look?

Looks like he did a good job of creating separation bw him and thomas today so thats good. good ypc too and a 5 yd td run

Thought he looked pretty good. More room to operate today. A little disheartening that Thomas got so much work in the middle quarters But on the flip side, Thomas didn't do anything with his touches again. Miller was also used in some crunch time drives/plays so that is always a good sign.

I'm concerned that, in a game the dolphins were leading or tied for a majority of the time, the backs only had 22 carries vs 34 passing attempts. I'm concerned with drives like these:

1-10-MIA20 (13:01) (Shotgun) R.Tannehill pass incomplete short left to C.Clay.2-10-MIA20 (12:58) (Run formation) R.Tannehill pass short right to M.Wallace to MIA 26 for 6 yards (G.Toler).3-4-MIA26 (12:19) (Shotgun) R.Tannehill pass deep left to B.Hartline to 50 for 24 yards (L.Landry).1-10-50 (11:43) (Shotgun) R.Tannehill pass incomplete short right to M.Wallace (G.Toler).2-10-50 (11:37) (Run formation) R.Tannehill pass incomplete short right to B.Hartline.3-10-50 (11:31) (Shotgun) R.Tannehill sacked at MIA 42 for -8 yards (sack split by P.Angerer and B.Werner).4-18-MIA42 (10:56) B.Fields punts 25 yards to IND 33, Center-J.Denney, out of bounds.or

1-10-MIA20 (9:14) (Run formation) D.Thomas up the middle to MIA 26 for 6 yards (J.Freeman; G.Toler).2-4-MIA26 (8:39) (Shotgun) R.Tannehill pass short middle to M.Wallace to MIA 32 for 6 yards (J.Freeman).1-10-MIA32 (7:59) (Run formation) R.Tannehill pass short left to B.Hartline pushed ob at MIA 44 for 12 yards (V.Davis).1-10-MIA42 (7:44) (Run formation) R.Tannehill FUMBLES (Aborted) at MIA 41, recovered by MIA-T.Clutts at MIA 42. T.Clutts to MIA 44 for 2 yards (R.Mathis).2-10-MIA44 (7:04) (Shotgun) R.Tannehill pass short left to M.Wallace to MIA 48 for 4 yards (V.Davis).3-6-MIA48 (6:27) (Shotgun) R.Tannehill pass incomplete short middle to C.Clay (A.Bethea).4-6-MIA48 (6:22) B.Fields punts 43 yards to IND 9, Center-J.Denney. D.Butler to IND 18 for 9 yards (C.Clemons).these were both from the first half, Dolphins nursing a lead. 6 and 7 play drives, just one single run. This comes from a coach who made a living off of feeding Aaron Rodgers with no running game - a coach quite content to air it out, ground game be damned.

Of Millers 14 carries, 3 came in garbage time... leading up to the last drive of the game, Miller was sitting on 11 carries for 59 yards. That's a healthy YPC, but not nearly the usage one would hope for.

further compounding the issue, Daniel Thomas continued to plod away 8 additional carries.

To me, this looks like a 65/35 RBBC in a pass-first offense. Yuck.

On his 14 yard run he was one guy away from going the distance for a looooong TD run.

He is on his way. Thomas was again.....blech.

Good to hear that he's coming around. I am going to make a play for him in the league where I have David Wilson. Price probably went up this weekend.

The whole Dolphins offense looked good yesterday, Tannehill was slinging it and Sherman started channeling his inner Mike Martz with the play calling. The biggest concern again on Miller is how easily he goes down on first contact, he's gotta start moving the pile and breaking some tackles if he wants to get the full load.

First run he gains 7 yards but is arm tackled from behind by the blitzing safety Bethea. He had no one in front of him and it would have been huge play, if not TD.

Great run on the 10 yard TD, textbook run.
