Who knows what Miller is really thinking, but one would have to think that the odds of him leaving via FA just went up sharply after being pulled yesterday.

Assuming the Dolphins make him a credible offer, it probably boils down to how much he loves Miami and willing to take a home team discount. That, and how much he wants to be a clear lead dog somewhere else as opposed to sharing with Ajayi.

Given that he's a competitive athlete, I am guessing he will take the money and starting gig somewhere else and spend his offseasons in Miami.

Williams was a couple years older. 2011. He was 27 I believe off his original rookie contract. They did offer a boatload to stay. It probably was more than any other team so it is different. I owned Williams at that time and knew fantasy wise it was not going to be good. The same will happen to Miller if he resigns. Even regime change did not help Williams.

He is a local. If they match his best offer and bring in an actual professional coaching staff, maybe they can convince him that they will utilize him, and maybe he would stay. I am not convinced that either of those things will happen though, so I believe he is gone. Still young enough to have a very good career, maybe make a pro bowl or two. Maybe even sniff a playoff game one day.

230 yards short of his second straight 1000 yard season, and he has come out publicly and said it is important to him. If they want to have any shot at keeping him next year, you would think they would do what they can to keep him happy. They are also getting lambasted by local media for the misusage of him. I think he gets 20+ carries this week. Staring with the utmost confidence.

What do they have to gain? I mean is that the message you want to send to upcoming free agents as you try to tebuild? Come to Miami, we stonewall our own guys. If they haven't seen enou from Ajayi to know if hes their guy by now, the next two,weeks aren't going to change anything. IMO you run miller into the ground to save your workhorse from getting hurt in a meaningless game (Ajayi). Sure I'm biased but that makes sense from a practical standpoint.

Now, obviously the coaches are not calling the shots. This has a smell of owner/GM/higher up calling the shots. Whether it be, "we just paid tannehill so much money let's use him and prove he's worth it" or "we want Ajayi, so you play Ajayi."

So Ajayi probably gets more carries than he should.

Let's remember also, there was a game earlier this year Miller didn't see much time at all the second half and the idea was they were down by so much and it seemed like Miller wasn't in their passing package. Why? Your guess is as good as mine, I stopped trying to figure these guys out months ago. But, this weekend I don't see Miami being down like they were last week, making Miller a possible good play.

I also think there's a huge chance Miller is back in Miami.

No income tax... People don't really take this into consideration as much as they should. He gets to keep so much more of his hard earned money.

Yeah, I'm leaning this way. But I can't get that Houston game out of my head and what Miller did from the get-go against that weak defense. Same thing against the Giants just two weeks ago on just a few touches.

This is what I'm doing. I actually feel very good about having this option. Cowboys run D is a sieve, and they have nothing to play for on the road, in the cold. I'll be very surprised if Karlos isn't a top 5 RB this week.

Miller can bust a long TD on one play. Artis-Payne could play all day and put up bad production. At the end of the day, you gotta figure at worst it's a time share and Miller is still a stud.

He has a career ypc close to 5, is a good,pass catcher and is only 24.

Nothing on any quad injury. Nothing about giving the young kid Ajayi more of the load. Nothing about how the staff wants to commit to the run again. Nothing.

I am not an expert, but I think Miami is screwed. They cannot pay him what he will command because of the Suh contract, so they are seeing what they have with the younger guy. They made a huge mistake and will be paying for it for the next two to three years. 23 million next year and 15 million the year after that.

I don't know why anyone would pay a running back, almost all of them get injured and it is easy to find young guys who can fill in.

Lamar Miller vs. Colts: It was all about bankable volume in the “Starts” section of this piece. As we’re about to see with the running backs in the “Sits” section, we can’t bank on anything with these guys. Miller was out-snapped by rookie Jay Ajayi 31-18 last week against the Chargers, and Miller managed 24 total scoreless yards on 11 touches. The Dolphins lost by 16 points, and Miller suffered a quad injury in the game, so both those things could have played a factor. But the Dolphins have been yanking Miller around all season, making him impossible to trust as anything more than a boom-or-bust RB2/FLEX option in an above-average spot against Indianapolis. The Dolphins have nothing to play for, and Miller is an impending free agent. They could choose to simply see what they have in Ajayi the final two weeks in an attempt to also possibly lower Miller’s asking price.

Probably doesn't make much sense to be any more gun shy about Miller than Michael, but I at least have more confidence that Seattle will commit to the run, and Miller seems to be 3rd in the RB pecking order when it comes to the passing game.
