Lamar Miller-The next great Miami RB into the NFL (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

He looked great as a Freshman. If you get a chance you want to watch this guy. You better because Miami might not be on TV much longer. Miami really has not had a stud at the position since Gore left for the NFL. Miller is far away the best prospect they have had in the last 5-6 years.

ETA: Nevermind. I was watching the game on delay and didn't get many carries to that point.

Lamar is really good. I got to watch him a little bit in high school as he went to my Alma Mater of Miami Killian. He has really good vision, great frame, and really good hands out of the backfield. They split him out wide a bit and tried to get him the ball as much as possible in as many different ways as they could. Excited in what I saw from him tonight. He kind of reminds me a bit of a just barely smaller DMC.

15/118 so far today, this guys is going to be a 1st round pick, just has to wait another year. Lucky for Miami he's a Sophomore.

91/629/4TDs rushing and another 11 receptions, he's gonna be a 3 down back. Tough to bring down and he just did a cut back to the other side run that will make the highlights. He's got a nice run blocking OL in front of him too.

Redshirt sophomore. He's eligible to go after this year. Doubt he will though.

1st Cane to ever start the season with 5 one hundred yard games on the ground...that's a lot of big names he is passing by.

Actually he may go, considering the likely probation coming next year. Not much to play for, especially if he's pegged to be a top 10 pick.

Only difference is all the ones you listed above.. except Edge fought for playing time.. Portis, Gore, McGahee on the same team. sick squad

Kid reminds me of DMC a bit. I was lucky to see his last high school game vs Northwestern and could tell from the get go he was going to be awesome. If he did decide to leave, it wouldn't be shocking. Just depends on how hard of a fall UM takes for everything that went on.

I see some DMC, but he more reminds me of Portis back when he could motor. Southridge alum here.

I'd be shocked if he didn't go pro. If he gets a 1st round grade he'd be dumb to stay in school.

he's a first-rounder, and most see him as the second best RB in this class behind Trent Richardson (provided both decide to go pro).

I think he comes out. there's enough film on him, scouts love his versatility and ability as a receiver out of the backfield.

Richardson is the only back worthy of a top 10 pick, Miller likely goes somewhere from 18-25 IMHO.

http://nfldraftscout.com currently has him as the 39th overall draft eligible player.

I'm starting to become a believer. He's just so explosive it's scary and he's got the size to take it between the tackles too. The #2 guy behind Richardson is wide open and he looks like the best of the bunch, I'm expecting him to declare, next year there's a lot more competition with Lattimore, Dyer and a returning Knile Davis.

Studs rarely last into the 4th round...
No doubt but I seem to remember a guy named Terrell Davis who went in the 6th, Bradshaw went in the 7th, maybe he's not a stud but he has been productive. Daniel Thomas is not the answer, he looked terrible at times last year. Reggie Bush...miracle season last year, his contract runs out, doubt Miami resigns him. Lamar Miller is going to be a big part of the offense and the passing game. Look at the packers and how they use their RBs, I think Miller is better than both Ryan Grant and James Starks...I see him doing very well in Miami. he's gonna look great in teal n orange.

They don't really use them much.

That's the way to turn around a franchise...take the local talent.
Miami has sent several guys to the NFL in the last couple seasons that were not drafted high but are already kicking ### in the NFL. Shannon could recruit, couldn't coach as well though. Shields in GB pops to mind. The Phins have not taken a Miami guy in a long time, it's good for the fan base down here. Lot of great players have come out of Miami, not sure why you would roll your eyes but being an alum I'm used to it :)

Grant was doing very well before the injuries. I think he had 275+ carries at least once. I think Miller could easily be a 250+ touch guy rush/rec, maybe not right away but he has a nice OLine now to run behind I might add. It's cool ID, I expect some good ribbing from you. I fired this thread up because I believe in this guy's talent. I think it's great that his value us now down. If Miami had taken him in the 2nd/3rd, he might have gone top6/7...now he will slide down further and you might steal him with a 1.11/1.12/2.01 in dynasty...could be some really good value. He is going to be used, Miami traded up for him so i doubt they toss him on the bench for the next 3 years. Daniel Thomas is not a Philbin type back and I see Miller making an impact.

Those guys are few and far between. All i'm saying is preaching that a guy is a stud in the 4th round is counting chickens before they hatch.

I like Miller. But the pick smacks of 'let's pick a local star and sell a few more season tickets'.

I can think of 4-5 WRs that would be better picks at that point.

Something they desperately need.

It seems clear that Mia took the break time to evaluate the remaining talent and must have come to the conclusion that Miller was a super value worth trading up for at the start of today. I think Mia clearly had him at the top of the board of remaing players and made it happen.

reminds me more of a Tatum Bell than a Terrell Davis who was mentioned a few posts up.

the Tatum Bell thing isn't really a shot at Miller, either. He just reminds me of Bell...who was a high 2nd round pick and had very good straight-line speed, but wasn't an incredibly dynamic RB and never became an every-down player. Rushed for 1k in a Shanahan ZBS system.

Exactly. I don't trust this. I think the Lions would have jumped all over this guy last night had they felt he was the real deal.Looks to me more like the owner wanting to crank up some interest.

This has J.J. Arrington written all over it for me.

I think Miller has far better lateral movement than Bell and less tendency to get hurt every 5th or 8th carry. And a far better head. Shoulders are the real question, but if they can get right (big if) he looks like the top rookie sleeper around 2.1. Depends, I guess, on where the discussion takes him from here, but this is the last good thing I'll post about him.

fair enough. I haven't watched a whole lot of Miami ball, but the limited amount I have seen of Miller the guy who came to mind recently was Bell.

:goodposting: With how well Bush played last year, it seems like drafting a 2 down who's useless on goal line plays is just unnecessary given their WR needs.
He's not useless at the gl and he can be a 3 down back. Bush only had a 2 year deal and they have to try and sign Jake Long to an extension which is seeming more and more unlikely with martin being drafted. Miller is 5"11' 215 lbs, ideal build for an NFL RB, he could add a couple pounds and probably will but he has really good speed, Miami needs these types right now. He is going to get touches.

So much for being a 1st round pick as he goes in the 4th round
