Lame Duck Firings (1 Viewer)

I am guessing it has more to do with refusing to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hunter Biden.  . (We will see on this if the new AG acts quickly to appoint one).

That and not publicly revealing the investigation prior to the election.
His fate was sealed when he said there was no wide spread election fraud. And now all of the electors have voted to make officially official.

I mean, he signed it. Not sure if it matters whether he or Steven Miller had the brainchild to put his name to that.
Can we really be sure he signed it?

It almost feels like someone else replaced the 1st page with indoctrination gibberish, and then just added Barr's signature page.

I am not saying it did happen, but I am not saying it didn't happen.

I mean he was leaving 1/20 anyway....is it really that big of deal

Assuming Biden was confirmed

New acting AG can appoint a special counsel to probe the election and Biden can’t fire. That will keep the Trump base claiming that Biden is the not the legitimate President for longer although many likely will anyway. I do suspect without a special counsel that gradually a larger and larger % of Republicans will put this farce idea in the rear view mirror. The quicker they do the better it will be for our nation.

Dare to dream

So basically Biden blanket pardons his son a few days after Trump blanket pardons his own kids, and we move on.
I am not worried about Hunter Biden indictment as much as I am we have a year long plus investigation into this past election by a special counsel. Not that I think they will find anything, just that the investigation will keep his base fired up.

I guess I’m saying that under assumption there is nothing to investigate if there is no crime that can be charged. Isn’t that the thinking on suggested pardons for Trump children? I may be misunderstanding impact of pardons.

Rumor has it that White House council has warned Trump against firing FBI director Wray who actually has an 8 year term. As to firing other Trump officials who only have a few weeks left Shannon Pettypiece had a great line today on MSNBC saying firing them now was like shooting people on the Titanic.

i would say it's like shooting the Titanic's officers while the lifeboats are being loaded.    Ideally, you want the experienced people there to oversee the transition.

Probably should have a Lame Duck Resignations thread, but I am too lazy.

Mick Mulvaney - former Chief of Staff, current Special Envoy to Northern Ireland - gives his two week notice.

“‘I called [Secretary of State] Mike Pompeo last night to let him know I was resigning from that. I can't do it. I can't stay,’ Mick Mulvaney told CNBC in an exclusive interview.”

BREAKING: Ryan Tully has resigned from the NSC. He was senior director for European and Russian Affairs. Quit after yesterday's events at US Capitol, I'm told.

Giving two week notice on a job that ends in 13 days. Nice.
