Lamont Jordan major sleeper (1 Viewer)

Does anyone this time last year when Lamont Jordan was a consensus top 10 pick?

Well, everything went wrong in Oakland last year and Jordan paid for it.

This year Jordan is a good candidate for a comeback. For what ever reason last year the Raiders refused to use Jordan in the passing game out of the backfield. That will change this year.

Two years ago Jordan ran for 1,025 yards. Caught 70 balls for 563 yards and had 11 td's in only 14 games.

A new coach and a new system will do Jordan some good.

I look for Jordan to come close to 1,000 yards on the ground. 430 yds in the air and 6-8 td's. I also look for Dominic Rhodes to be nothing but a glorified back up. I don't worry about Rhodes (a mediocre talent in a great system) to make a serious dent in Jordan's #'s.

Jordan is a solid sleeper who could end up being a low end #2 rb.

Hush your mouth.Sorry, but since the cat is out of the bag I really think for could be the comeback player of the year + one of the steals of the draft.

NO

Currently RB26 on my board, slighly higher in PPR, and has a nice early schedule. Still undervalued in FF, as he has actually shown what his upside is, compared to a Noorwood/Deangelo Williams that hasn't proven anything.

I think he represents good value currently. The Raiders offense in general should be better this year; since their o-line is playing better under Kiffin (and staff) and the newly implemented zone blocking scheme.

More than any year in recent memory, it seems like there are some legitimate starters to be had at RB in the mid rounds. I think guys like Fred Taylor, DeShaun Foster, Lamont Jordan, Ahman Green and Cadillac Williams are all solid guys with #2 potential that can be had later in the draft.

Personally, I will try to get 2 top RBs and hope to also add 1 or 2 of the above group in 5th to 9th round and hope that one of them turns into a nice guy to play as a flex every week. If you can find a #3 RB who can put up 1400 total yards and 6-8 TDs as your flex guy, it gives you a nice leg up on the competition because no #3 WR will do that. That's where I see someone like Jordan as a potential value.

Honestly, I think Jordan is going to lay a couple of eggs and Rhodes will take over in week 5. Call it a hunch.

Jordan had a couple of nice runs in the pre-season, but he's never been an impressive back in my eyes. He looks overweight and slow.

Rhodes is very unlikely to take over Jordan's job, and if he does, it won't be in week 5. Rhodes is not allowed to practice with the team until week 5; week 6 or 7 would be the earliest he'd be involved. It should be noted that Rhodes average 3.0 ypc in 2005 and 3.4 ypc, in Indianapolis. This pre-season, he's averaged 2.4 ypc. Jordan has averaged 4.5 ypc and Echemandu has averaged 4.2 ypc. Frankly, I think it's more likely that Rhodes gets released without ever playing a down for the Raiders, than it is that he takes Jordan's job. The job is Jordan's.

No way will Rhodes take over the starting job from Jordan. Rhodes is similar in some ways to Jordan, but Jordan is a much better receiver.

If you remember, the Raiders won all their pre-season games last year. A 4.5 ypc in pre-season doesn't mean anything.

I agree, but it sure beats 2.4 ypc in the pre-season.Rhodes has not looked very good; it's not like his 2.4 ypc came because he was overwhelmed by the defense. I saw him in the open field plow right into the only defender for a 5-yard gain on what could have been 10 or 15 yards if he'd made a move. He's just not very interesting, and now the other backs will get to play with the team while he sits out. That's not a formula for taking over the starting job.

Jordan will have one of the biggest comebacks this season. It wasn't his fault the raiders offense stunk and then injured his knee last year.

I see 1,000+ yards rush 8 tds, 45 rec 300 yards 2 tds. Rhodes could cut into a bit of his scoring but not alot.

If I had to depend on Jordan as my RB2, I would be slightly concerned. The Raiders had terrible offensive woes last year. The offseason has allowed them to fix a lot of their defensive woes. They have basically changed their entire coaching staff, have new players, have players nursing injuries, and I am not overly impressed by the O-Line for this year. Add the fact that they are still trying to nail down their starting QB.

This is a team that is in for another long season. While I wouldn't mind having Jordan as a RB3 due to his upside. I would not be getting overly excited thinking he is going to end up a Top 15 RB.

Jordan has huge upside as a #3 rb.

I got him in the 6th round of a 12 team league as my 4th RB...im pretty stoked. I think he will be a solid #3 if the Raiders use him right.

This is the correct answer, I think. He's a bye week filler that should at least be better than last year. Okay. But, especially in PPR leagues, he could be a huge steal. That's exactly what I want at the 30th RB taken off the board.

:goodposting: I took Dominic Rhodes with the last pick in two drafts. Lamont will be a) unproductive and/or b) hurt by Week 6.
