Lance Moore could benefit from Bush's absence (1 Viewer)

Moore was a consistent contributor when Reggie Bush was out for week 8-12 and part of 13 back in 2008. He should perform as long as Reggie is out.

Moore averaged 95yds and a little over a TD during the 4 games that Reggie missed. He also had a TD in the game that Reggie returned.

Ride him while Reggie is out.

thanks for clearing that up and correcting my misconception, much appreciated!

I didn't start him this week; just hope I pick the right weeks to use him going forward. Are owners truly confident starting him every week?

No, but there are very few players you can snag at this point who you can call every week starters. He is worth a flyer but his true value for those that already have him might be as trade bait. He's almost certain not to have stats this high again this season just going by the average so his value is sky high unless the very unlikely happens and he somehow manages 20+ points for 3 or 4 weeks in a row.

5k budget FAAB, anyone want to estimate Lance Moore's value here?

I'm not hurting at WR, but he's worth at least putting a small bid on.

Any insight into why FBGs have Moore ranked so low this week? According to Dodds, he is barely startable as a WR4. He is ranked below receivers such as Naanee, SIms-Walker, Mike Thomas, Steve Smith (CAR), Amendola, Edwards, Evans, Crabtree, and Branch among others. Between talent, situation, and matchups, I don't think he should be ranked below most of these, if any. And thats just receivers. If comparing him to TEs and RBs as well to use as a flex, he gets bumped down even more. What am I missing?

I just assume they don't buy into the hype as much as some people do after one good week. Much like a lot of people didn't earlier this year on Brandon LLoyd. First of all, the chances of him putting up numbers anything close to that is near impossible. Before last week he was practically non-existent. Everyone knows Brees spreads the wealth, and the most dependable every week start is Colston and he put up something like 2 points last week. Finally, I imagine the main reason he did so well last week was because the other receivers were being targeted heavily and Moore was left relatively open. I'm sure his numbers will do more than draw enough attention to him this week. He may prove FBG and myself wrong, but I can see why they aren't so high on him.

oh, btw, Meachem has not been seeing the field much and Henderson can not catch. Moore for the time being is the guy.
this, moreso than the bush injury, appears to me to be the reason moore excelled. i would not be in such a hurry to relegate moore when bush comes back.

I really don't know. I get what tdhartis is saying but with the news today that Pierre Thomas sat out this week they don't have a solid RB to rely on so I expect his value to go up as the week goes on. I'll be starting him this week as my WR3 because I have bye week issues (Wiliams and Harvin) and he is my best option. I think he's good for 80 yards and a possible score

I was a little surprised when I saw that as well. It looks like Pierre Thomas 'may' not play (he didn't practice today) so they are going to have to dump off a lot in leau of a running game. I have him in a PPR league and I might have to play him as my flex. Of course, I'm always interested in hearing what Bloom says.

Love the below quote (see bold red) from Brees...

http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2010/...ance_moore.html

Moore just hasn't had many opportunities to "catch the ball and run."

He came into last season having been the Saints leading receiver in 2008. But hamstring and ankle injures slowed Moore for much of last season, as he played in seven regular-season games and caught 14 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Until Sunday, though, Moore didn't appear to be a major player in the offense.

But Brees said he has never forgotten about Moore.

"Some days it goes their way, and some days it doesn't, " said Brees, who also connected with Moore on a 16-yard touchdown pass. "Lance is one of my favorite teammates. He is a playmaker. He is a guy we want to get opportunities to. We need to find a way to get this guy the ball. He can do something when he has it. He's a big-play guy, and you saw that today."

How involved is Lance Moore on special teams? Does he return punts and kicks?

I ask because I am in a league that awards points for both...and b/c I picked him up off waivers

He returned punts week 3 since Reggie is out. I'd have to assume he'll maintain that role.

Pierre Thomas out or even if he's truly hobbled, could mean a pretty big day for Moore. Panthers suspect of the middle would focus on stopping Colston while Moore runs all his routes Brees likes especially with bush out, and brees already trusts him.

In Moore's second full game since Bush went down he already has 1td today and fumbled on the three yard line for what could have been another Saints td and they are still in the 1st qt.

So now that Bush is back, anyone have the guts to roll with Lance? I'm concerned myself.. every time Bush is in the lineup Moore disappears.

He will see less catches, how much remains to be seen. Bush will be short option 1 because he can take it to the house if he gets the ball in space. Lance or the TE's if Bush is covered.
