Larry Grant (1 Viewer)

This guy has put up great numbers filling in for Willis. I haven't watched the games, so I don't know if he's actually playing well or just compiling stats, but his 2 sacks and 5 PD's suggest to me that he is more than just a compiler.

Anyway, does he hold any value beyond this season?

I picked the guy up a week after he got his start replacing Willis and had him as LB2 in my line-up each week. He was flying around and certainly as strong as any other SF LBer including Bowman and Willis. I would have to say the system there allows this type of LB statistics, but those guys including their DE's like Smith and Smith are solid IDP players. I don't think Grant will have any value unless Willis is set to become a UFA or goes down with injury again. If either of them happen.. grab the guy quick because he won't be a "secret" anymore

Grant been very impressive in pass coverage, but poor in the run game. He won't and can't take on a blocker and fill the hole, is moved very easily and does not disengage well. Its been interesting watching Bowman's play change--and numbers decrease--as he tries to pick up the slack with PWilly out.

I don't see any reason to buy or hold Grant in fantasy. He is what he is--a backup LB with his only upside being if a starter gets injured.

eta--I don't agree with anything the poster above me just said. Big red X.

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone know his contract status? How many years before he becomes a FA? It sounds, based on the most recent post, that he likely doesn't have starter potential anyway, so wouldn't hold much value on another team, but I'd still be interested in knowing when his SF contract is up....

:goodposting: Agree with everything but especially the bold. In my 32 team dynasty league (we start 96 lb's each week) I didn't even bother picking him up. He's played very well for a backup but imo he's clearly not starter material. I don't see him having any significant value past this year unless whoever he is backing up goes down to injury again. This isn't a case of a young guy fighting his way into some team's starting lineup.
