Late season/playoff strategy (1 Viewer)

As the bye weeks come to an end, I wanted to get some people's thoughts on the idea of trading away your depth to improve your starting lineup.

I'm currently sitting with 4 good WR's (all probably #2's) and 3 very good RB's.

I could probably package a couple of good WR's for a stud WR but that would leave me with little or no depth.

Do you take the chance and optimize your starting lineup for the stretch run, or do you hold onto your depth and play the guys that got you there?

Any thoughts?

Points on the field win games. If you can get a stud WR with a history of good health, its a great idea.I wouldn't advise it if you're trading for someone with constant injury issues this season though, like a Portis or Westbrook.

Its a great idea, but you need to act quickly. You get the best value when people are scrambling to cover bye weeks and injuries.

I like to get the points producers out there, depth be damned!

Just pick up the backups to the players you are starting.

Yes.

After having my starting QB get injured (Bulger) and my back up get benched (Brooks) and losing in the semifinals because I had no real starter at QB I would say there is a case to be make for having depth.

Trader Joes covers some of this.

I go with the "Starter Plus One" theory - trade all your depth except for ONE decent spot starter for either matchups or injury concerns.

this is the correct answer. I took advantage of several owners this year who didn't quite undertand the extra teams on byes this year.....

If you're 4-4 or 3-5 and need to make a run, trade pretty much all but your starters.

If better I'd trade but not get you too thin.

I also subscribe to the starter plus one theory, though just for non-RB positions.
