LB Chad Greenway, Vikings (1 Viewer)

What does everyone think of this "rookie"? The FBG profile has him as a solid LB3 candidate, with upside of LB1.5 to LB2.

Cover 2 WLB so he should have opportunity. Should be interesting to watch his progress this year. I havent heard anything negative about his recovery.

Short-term, I forecast LB3 at best. It typically takes 2 years for full recovery after ACL and this is essentially Greenway's rookie year, plus the LBs in MIN weren't exactly scoring machines last year, so I'm not expecting much.

Long-term, I think Greenway has LB1/LB2 potential at WLB assuming Tomlin runs the Tampa 2. The departure of Napoleon Harris should stabilize the LB corps so they can each focus on one position instead of changing around like they did last year.

Tomlin's in Pittsburgh. Javon Walker did pretty well after his surgery because it happened early. Greenway's happened earlier still.

Long term, I am thinking his ceiling is about top 15 or so. This year, I would say it's low end LB2. He's not only coming off an injury, he also has not played an NFL game, and he got so early in camp last year that he is not much more than a rookie.

I think that the rookie angle is being overplayed a bit. Rookies step in at LB and do fine every year, and Greenway was rated above Demeco Ryans and equal to Ernie Sims at draft time.

If he's healthy and as good as he was supposed to be, I don't see the lack of NFL experience hurting him much.

For reference, in Zealots, here's how the four prime LB prospects fared in their first NFL season last year.

Hawk: 135 points, LB15.

Sims: 110, LB34.

Greenway: ACL

Ryans: 167, LB2.

I'm not saying that I'm confident that Greenway will have a great season, just that I don't think his lack of NFL experience limits his upside as much as people are indicating.

good reward for '07, but i'm still taking ej henderson over him

high upside for '08 and beyond

get him for your bench for this season and hope he becomes a starter
