I was invited to join a $75 12-team league where total payouts only equal $600. When I asked where the extra $300 went, I was informed that was for commish fees and league site fees. I've only been in lower priced leagues and I know we were almost 100% payout. Is 2/3 payout as bad as it seems to me, or is that normal?

Commish fees shouldn't exist. He's pocketing the money. Be sure to tell him to his face and find another league. All league sites run themselves. Other than putting in the initial rosters and processing waivers each week there's nothing else to do that would require being paid.

Thats BS! No league site costs that much and a person who is a commish should 1) Have the time to do it 2) Commish because they love FF ..... nobody should charge people to commish in local leagues. I would not join that league.

I host a $110 12 team league. $1200 goes to payouts and $120 goes to league site, draft board, and if any is left over I will get extra food and drinks for the draft.

I run a league. It isn't a big money league but everyone knows they are paying 7 extra dollars for the website fees. Every thing else gets paid out.

Commish who charges a fee is a crook.

similar here; the money league i was in last year split it out. In addition to prize money, we contributed $5 each to fees.

I charge $.01 to commish the league we're in. $70 entry fee, $69.99 for MFL. I pay in advance for MFL. I don't pay an entry fee. I think they're getting their pennies worth for all the time I spend working on the site. :goodposting:

12 team redraft - $125 buy-in plus $ for transactions & losses/ties. Website + draft board + draft day food runs about $150-175 total, an expense which is divided among the teams, and that is paid on draft day. Everything else gets paid out at the end of the season. The only compensation I get as commish is doing my best to ensure the league runs smoothly. A few of the commissioners we've had in the past have been less dutiful as their teams have fallen by the wayside.
