League Rules about Sunday/Monday Night Injured Players? GTD? (1 Viewer)

I was just curious if any leagues have some sort of substitution rule about Sunday or Monday Night Players that could be GTD if not listed as out? I know by the time you hear if they are playing or not, the majority of your bench players have already played in the earlier games.

An example could be Ahman Green this Monday night. He could have a great game Monday night, or get you a zero if you hear on Monday he is not playing.

I know not everyone can have the handcuff for every player on their squad! LOL :banned:

Found this in one of the other threads...

We have an injury rule that reduces Sunday morning headaches. Basically, regardless of the injury report, you can stipulate or "stip" 3 players in your lineup with a backup player. In the event they don't play as per the gamebooks on NFL.com, you get that repalcememnt player retro-put into your lineupHelps immeasurably with gametime decisions.

Above rule was mine. It's an excellent rule that really takes a lot of the anxiety out of lineup-setting.

The rationale is if you were truly the "coach" of your team, you'd know if you're guy was healthy enough to go. it's not your fault you have to deal with all the secrecy of head coaches and the genuine not knowing of a late game.

In a ten-team league, nine owners love it, one hates it. And the funny thing is, the one owner who hates it always seems to have a GTD guy he gets to retro-sub for.

we have pretty much the same thing in a couple of my leagues. we can back up one player with a player of the same position. so even if it is a flex, it has to be the same position as the starter. i used it last week when i started matt jones and backed him up with colston. we had to actually figure out what did'nt play means so we came to the conclusion that if they had any stats whatsoever, they played. all this came from moss playing as a decoy his last year in minny. an owner started him and backed him up. he played but he got zero stats. a couple owners were upset. nice rule.

I would think if the player takes the field at all then the substitution does not take place, whether the player has any stats or not.

The beauty of the NFL gamebooks on NFL.com is they record who subbed in for every play. They give you as much detail as a baseball boxscore.

So, yeah, if the guy held for a FG or played on special teams, he played. If the guy suited up on the sideline but never crossed the white line, he didn't play.

Good rule I wish I had that in my league as I have Ahman Green and I really thought he would have a solid game against the Eagles but since I don't know if he is playing. I have to go with others oh well

That's a great rule. I'm running into a lot of headaches this week with Droughns (4:00 game) and Westbrook (Monday night) both questionable. We have very limited roster space (12 spots / start 8), so there isn't much room for handcuffs. My only option this week is to start Derrick Mason in the flex position for one of my RBs, but he plays at 1:00, so I won't have definitive word on the playing status of either Westy or Droughns at that time.

Sure has made for an interesting week.

I'm going to bring this rule up with my league next year and see if they'll go for it.

Our league allows you to designate a replacement player for Sunday late, Sunday night and Monday night players. However that player only is substituted if the other player is inactive for the game.

For instnace, this week I am starting Darren Howard and listing Aaron Schobel as a provisional player. If Howard is inactive, Schobel is in the lineup and I get his stats from Sunday.

Last year I got burned by this. I started Joe Horn who was in for one play and then was pilled. My provisional player went off, but I didn't get him because Horn played one play. I wound up losing by 3 points and my provisional player scored 14.5 points. Overall, though I like the rule.
