League Sites that offer +1 blind bidding (1 Viewer)

Which league sites offer +1 blind bidding? By that I mean if the submitted bids for Player A were:

Team 1: $6

Team 2: $12

Team 2 would get Player A for $7.

I seem to remember Fanball might offer this but I can't really remember if that is true. Do any other sites offer this type of blind bidding?

The developer posted last week on the MFL message board that he is getting his mflbid app ready for 2010. I can't wait to see it.

Anybody who actually uses this care to give their thoughts as to why they like it? Pros/cons? I can definitely see it's use in an auction draft, but for waivers, kind of seems like it goes against the whole concept of blind blidding to me. If one owner completely over-estimates a FA's value and bids $80, and the next lowest bid was actually $5, I guess I don't see the reasoning behind giving him a pass and letting him get that player for $6.

The purpose of a +1 type of system is to have a blind bid system that mimics as much as possible a real auction, but without having to get your league mates together for a live draft every week. In my opinion, if you like awarding player in a draft via an auction, why not do the same for waivers? You can accomplish that by doing a +1 type of blind bid waivers but without having to get your league mates together every week. The league software acts behind the scenes as a virtual auctioneer.

So the reason you are "giving him a pass" is because if you had been doing the bidding live with all owners present, the bidding would have topped out at $6.

Why blind bid when you can bid a high amt w/o recourse? Defeats the whiole purpose of blind bidding. Why not just make it open to public view for all owners? (if you want to do auction-like process)

What do you mean by "without recourse"? Have you done blind bidding before? I ask because it sounds like you don't understand the process.

Yes, I fully understand. That two seperate posters have asked WTF the purpose of your setup is should give you your answer.

To answer your thread question, use the blind bid setup everyone else uses (and mfl supports). Of course mfl doesn't support your 'blind bid' setup because it's a terrible idea.

I think these MLF users would disagree. It's clear from your "without recourse" comment that you really don't get the idea. I know that you think you do. But you don't. If you did you would realize exactly what the recourse would be. Do you really not see how the +1 format mirrors the results of a live auction? What would the recourse be if you walked into a Sotheby's auction and screamed out, "1 million dollars!!", hoping to get that set of Kennedy's golf clubs for $10. Do you think that would have any recourse on your bank account?

I was asking for info regarding sites that offer this, but for some reason you seem really committed to letting me know that you think it sucks. Since you seem like you want to steer this thread in that direction, I'd like to hear what you think the flaw is with +1 bidding. Not that you think it is stupid, I get that. But what specifically is the flaw that makes it stupid.

Blind bidding is blind bidding. What your talking about is a max bid concept with minimum consequences. It sure would be nice if I bid $500 and only had to spend $5 but most leagues don't work like that. Yours is one of the few where someone gets a free pass for bidding too much.

This issue is coming up in my league for next year's changes. Interested in how many leagues actually do this and opinions of it from those who use it. Can anyone tell me their experiences with this system?
