Leftwich in a Dynasty League (1 Viewer)

He's injured yet again....

ESPN (and KFFL) are reporting that he is now 3rd on the depth chart behind the mighty Joey Harrington and the indomitable Chris Redman.

I need to make a pickup to cover a bye week and feel that Lefty is now dead weight. Hell, I think I'd rather drop him than my second kicker, Shane Graham.

Anyone else cutting their ties with Leftwich in a Dynasty?

I drafted Leftwich in all 3 leagues this year. One of the few supporters he had left (because he always produced despite injury). It's time to cut bait, he'll never be a viable franchise QB again.

I don't think Joey's the problem in Atlanta. He's not the solution, but far from the biggest problem in atlanta.

Personally, I don't think he's good enough at this point to warrant keeping him, and that's even if his future was known. Add in the unknown and where he may eventually end up, I'd pass.

Well, the only reason I've held on to him this long is the unknown regarding Bobby Petrino. As a Louisville fan, I can say that Petrino is a borderline offensive genius, a la Martz; however, he doesn't really have the personnel in place to suit his style. Yet, QBs always do well in his system, it seems. Petrino's teams are also usually strong on the OL and that might be all that Lefty needs to excel given his slow delivery. Then again, the NFL isn't college, but I can't help but think that ATL's offense will put up some monster numbers in the next couple years.

I still think I'm gonna pull the plug, but as soon as I drop a QB "bum/prospect" they become stars (See D. Anderson and M. Schaub).

In large dynasty leagues I still think he is worth keeping. Atlanta will probably give him a shot at some point this season. I would still put his value higher than your backup kicker (by a bit)...

I think that he rates higher than a backup kicker, so if thats your choice then I'd keep him. But maybe you are in a larger league where there are no starting kickers in the FA pool. But if your #1 kicker is past his bye then I'd probably just drop the #2 guy. Leftwich was not bad in JAX and played for a terrible offensive coach. My biggest concern for him though is his continuing inability to stay healthy. There is still a good chance he will be given a chance to start with ATL. He has only been with the team a few weeks.

I own him in a dynasty and drafted him in the 1st when he came out so I'll give him through this off season to find a starting job. If he doesn't he'll be part of the required cuts for our rookie draft in the spring.

I cut him loose. I already have Brees, Schaub and Garrard so I dont see him being better then those 3 on a consistent basis. No reason to waste cap $ on him anymore.

In dynasty, the question isn't always if the players rates a roster spot. Sometimes the question is, if I drop this player will someone else pick him up. Even if you think Leftwich has some longterm value, odds are you are safe to drop him and use the roster spot for now. I can't see a rush to waiver wire to get him in most leagues. I'd cut him loose and take a flyer on someone else with some upside, if that player doesn't look to be a better option 4-6 weeks from now you can likely pick up Byron again.

LoL.. shows what I know.

Dear Shark Pool,

I had to pick a Leftwich thread to post in so I went with this one. I have been one who has liked Leftwich but I have heard nothing about him since being cut. This looks to be a very bad sign. Is this guy going to find a team and when? I am hoping to salvage some value out of him and get something in a zealots league but I'm not even sure he is worth the roster spot?

What is the thinking in the pool as to why Leftwich is not being looked at and will he get a shot by someone?

Sincerely,

Concerned Lefty Owner
