So many announcers and NFL analysts make Him sound like hes as Tough as they come since he takes some monster hits and always seems too play injured... However, I do want to point out that he always injury by the mid-season and ends up missing a couple of games a season.. Which, IMO, hurts Jax since they have to spend the $ in order to keep a decent back up QB.

So I ask you, Is he Tough or just Injury Prone???

what it comes down to is how well you can take a beating on the field. there are two ways to avoid injury:

A) avoid the hits

B) take the hits with enough finesse to not get injured

QBs like Leftwich and McNair are probably really tough guys. Unfortunately, they can't avoid the hits and they can't take hits with any finesse. So, they're always injured.

On the other hand, you have guys like Favre who also cannot avoid hits, but are able to take them over an extended period of time because of this finesse factor.

And, very rarely, do you get guys who can avoid the hits altogether (Barry Sanders).

this has been coming up a couple of places, I don't realy think its a fair question. It's not a one or the other scenario, no amount of toughness lets a quarterback play through a broken hand or whatever it may be. The amount of injuries a player incurs has no relevance to how tough he is. Would you say a player who is never injured is tough of course not lucky maybe skilled at avoiding big hits sure, that athlete may indeed be tough but you wouldn't say that he was because he avoids injuries. It does seem as though left is injury prone. However, I saw leftwich in college when his teamates carried him down the field so he could continue to play if thats not toughness than I don't knnow what is.

Would anyone agree with this statement:

"He is injury prone because he is tough as nails."

In other words, he doesn't fear the big hit because he can almost always take it, but when they pile on, it wears him down.

I agree with the earlier post about him and McNair not being good at avoiding big hits.

That is because I could beat either one of them in a 40. :lmao: Too slow to get out of their own way!
