Leinart discussion thread (1 Viewer)

While I envision Kolb to be pretty damn good this season and forward, in no way am I going out on a limb and saying he will be great. I certainly don't post that I'm right and everyone else is wrong. I know I could be wrong. You don't seem to feel that way.
Because I was supporting Leinart when EVERYBODY else was not. I was saying BUY LOW last year, when everybody else was mocking him.Everybody and their mom is on Kolb's jock.Let's try to use a legitimate comparison next time.
And anyone who bought last year wasted money.
This is your opinion, but it isn't necessarily so. Many folks bought Kolb last year too, but not too many folks are claiming it was a waste of money. Let's wait and see how it all plays out before claiming it was a waste of money to buy these guys last year.....for either Leinart or Kolb.

What did Leinart do last year to say to this point they did not waste money?I meant to more say to this point...based on last year...buying low has not gotten you anything and ol Hucksy is already trying to proclaim he is right.

I don't get this at all. Leinart costs more today than he did a year ago, so if you bought a year ago you already will have seen a (very slight) return on investment. Beyond that... we won't know if it was wasted money until we see what Leinart does. Calling Leinart wasted money at this point is being sensationalistic just for the sake of being sensationalistic.

I also think it's really interesting that everyone seems to have such radically different opinions on Kolb and Leinart when they're both essentially the same player- a young career backup with a strong pedigree who's been playing behind an All Pro in a pass-heavy offense, who is inheriting a lot of young and talented weapons, and who hasn't ever had a chance to show anything on the field. Both have been caddies for 3 years. Both have essentially identical career rate stats (Kolb = 6.8 ypa, 4:7 TD:INT, 68.9 QB Rating. Leinart = 6.5 ypa, 14:20 TD:INT, 70.8 QB Rating). Yet for some reason the shark pool treats Kolb like he's Matt Schaub and treats Leinart like he's Jamarcus Russell. I just don't see the big difference between the two.
I think there are two primary differences. Kolb looked lost when he was tossed out there in 2008 against Bal. I know Bal makes a lot of QBs look bad- but 10-23 3y/a is really stinking bad. On the other hand Kolb looked like a legitimate NFL QB in 2009- seeing that progress is huge for young players. Leinart on the other hand still looked pretty bad in his few appearances in his 4th season and doesn't seem to be progressing as a QB.The second difference is that Warner retired but Mcnabb was traded. That is a significant difference in the size of the vote of confidence by the coaching staff.

This is exactly the difference between Kolb and Leinart. While LHUCKS wants to believe, and thus wants us to believe, that Leinart has that vote of confidence by his coaching staff, absolutely no one is going to convince me that if Warner had decided to return for 2010 that the coaching staff would not look for one more year of production out of him rather than turn the team over to Leinart. The Eagles, on the other hand, specifically shipped their vet QB off to a division rival.....thus garnering incredulous "votes of confidence" in Kolb.

Probably 30 other threads out there about this, but bumping the original seems appropriate. Can we now accept Leinart for what he is? When Oakland and Buffalo are the lead dogs in supposed trade talks for the guy, I think it's time to wave the white flag.

Not that a preseason game means that much, but I've always had a hard time believing that Leinart can't be a good NFL QB. I think LHUCKS will be vindicated at some point. He's stood strong no matter how bad it looked. He might just be a PAC-10 homer, but that doesn't make him wrong.
I agree. LHUCKS has this one right. I still disagree with him on Addai, MJD and most other matters - but I believe Lienart will make good.

Right... but when your only 2 reasons for endlessly supporting Leinart are A)he went to USC and B)he plays for Arizona, should you really get credit for being right? It's more a lucky coincidence than an accurate assessment of talent.
Not really, I've been in here countless times pointing out his glimpses of upside...I've seen pretty much every snap of the guys pro career. He just airmailed a pick though...we're not annointing him yet.
I love the back peddle only a week after annointing him and declaring vindication. Typical.

Bottom line, anything that gets floated out there this time of year should be taken with a grain of salt.
Sure, but Wiz is a pretty straight up coach...if Leinart wasn't showing up, Wiz wouldn't be as positive. IMHO.

Looking forward to this entire forum eating some crow.

lhucks will never eat crow on Leinart.... it has been such a monumental ongoing multi-year whiff of a prediction and talent evaluation, yet lhucks will never admit it.Leinart will be out of the league and managing his stock portfolio on Sundays without ever having been a starter after his 1.5 years with the Cards.

But lhucks will forever make the claim in his quote below in my sig.

The next thing lhucks will claim - mark my words - is that Leinart is now being blackballed by the league.

All this may be true, but lhucks still has you all wrapped around his finger - hanging on every post.

Lol... nope, just enjoying seeing the multi-year lhucks taunting of the sharkpool play out the way everyone knew it would.

if Alex Smith can have a reasonable season because of coaching , Perhaps Leinhart will not be that bad. As a AJ owner I have to remain hopeful all is not lost.

How's this going? :coffee:
In the league longer than Vince Young, whom the shark pool proclaimed the next big thing. It's not easy taking contrarian positions, but somebody has to do it.
They both suck. And I'm mad about it. After watching that rose bowl I was convinced we had just seen the future of football. Reggie bush sucks. Leinart sucks. Vy sucks. Jarrett sucks. Lendale sucks. Griffin sucks. Sam baker sucks. I think rod wright is probably the best player to come from that game and I dont even know if he has a job. They all suck. I was looking forward to having a son and popping in that game when a bunch of friends were over for a spend the night in 6Th grade. I looked forward to pointing out all of the hall of fame players playing that night. They all suck. The only story I have to tell is how I used to work with the tramp who was hooked up with Ramonce Taylot at the time. Plate. Of. Suck.

Even with his obvious limited intellect, I still think VY could have been incredibly successful if he simply loved the game.It always seemed like he played with zero passion in the NFL.

He and Roy Williams both. They both seemed more interested in living off the past then working for the future. I dont know if it is because Austin is a cocoon or because ut is so biase-naive. No idea..

Can you concede that Matt Leinart sucks and that you were wrong and biased by your love of everything USC? Or, will you be a coward and either not post in here or deflect the argument to another player.I think we all agree that VY sucks, some of whom clearly thought otherwise, before. We also all would agree now that Leinart was a big flat flop, some of us earlier than others. You're late to the party on this one. Or, do you still take the contrarian view, as is so hard to do, and still maintain that Leinart is an NFL caliber QB?
